China's largely ceremonial parliament on Sunday overwhelmingly endorsed a controversial change to the country's constitution, paving the way for President Xi Jinping to stay in power indefinitely.Inside Beijing's Great Hall of the People, nearly 3,000 delegates to the National People's Congress?(NPC) cast their ballots on a series of proposed amendments -- including removing the restriction that had limited the presidency to two consecutive five-year terms.Out of 2,964 ballots, just two delegates voted against the move and three abstained, suggesting minimal opposition to Xi's push to rule for life. The amendments' passage required two thirds of the vote, which was a largely symbolic exercise.  726

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - Chula Vista parents who once felt hopeless now feel empowered to care for their children with behavioral challenges. Through the Parent Intervention Program (PIP), parents learn new strategies while their children develop their social-emotional skills and new ways of expressing themselves. PIP is offered free to Chula Vista families through the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD)."We want to do what we can for our families and children when it comes to the whole child, not only cognitively but socially and emotionally," said Rita Palet, the Director of Early Childhood Education Programs for CVESD.Palet says this is now a priority for the district, which is why they're offering the PIP program to families for free."Behaviors take a while to develop, so they do take a while to diminish," said Palet.Through the program, parents meet others dealing with similar struggles. "When you come here it makes you feel safe, I feel safe coming here, even when we had a rough morning getting here, they're so welcoming," said Mina Fagen, who brings her son to the program.Fagen says her son started acting out after changes happened in the family; his sister went to kindergarten and they also had a new baby in the family."I felt overwhelmed, and still at times feel overwhelmed, but this program gives me a safe place to go to," said Fagen.Parents ultimately give back to the program by volunteering their time later as a "payback parent." This means staff members have completed the program with their own child and can support others going through the program. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A part-time Coronado High School basketball coach pleaded guilty today to a felony sex charge involving a 17-year-old female student.Jordan Tyler Bucklew, 34, remains out of custody on bail and is slated to be sentenced Dec. 22 following his plea to a felony count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. He was charged in February with a felony count of digital penetration and three misdemeanor child molestation counts, which could have had him facing up to three years in state prison if convicted, but those charges were dismissed Tuesday in light of the plea. The Coronado Police Department received a report on Jan. 31 regarding ``an inappropriate relationship'' between the part-time coach and a teenage student, and Bucklew was arrested three days later.According to the original criminal complaint, the incidents took place between December 2019 and January of this year. When Bucklew was arrested, the Coronado Unified School District issued a statement saying the district ``takes such claims very seriously. When the allegations became known, the district followed policy and protocol including cooperation with Coronado Police Department to protect the safety and security of district students and staff.''Officials with Coronado High School and the school district did not immediately respond Tuesday to inquiries regarding Bucklew's employment status. 1397
