SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man carjacked two vehicles within hours in Otay Mesa, San Diego Police said Friday.The first carjacking happened in the parking lot of the Iris Trolley Station on Iris Ave. about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.A man was outside of his Volkswagen Jetta and a woman was sitting in the car when the suspect got into the driver’s seat, police said.The woman got out of the car and the suspect drove away, according to San Diego Police.Officers searched the area and found the suspect had parked the Jetta at Palm Ave. and Beyer Way and carjacked another car.Two men who were sitting in a Hyundai Genesis when the suspect grabbed the driver and pulled him out of the car. The passenger got out and the suspect drove away in the Genesis, officers said.The suspect crashed into a white SUV at I-805 and Sweetwater, police said.Paramedics took the driver, 33-year-old Daniel Perez, to the hospital with a knee injury. 927

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A local sailor who tested positive for coronavirus is sharing details of his ordeal online."I'm coming to you from my patio, not out in public," said Nichoas Moore.Moore posted a video on his Facebook page Sunday afternoon. "I got my results back just a little big ago. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man is dead after a hit-and-run driver struck him on Interstate 5 near Old Town overnight.Officers said the man was found lying dead in the middle of the highway at about 2:45 a.m. Saturday, prompting a closure of I-5 lanes for several hours.Only a bumper was found near the man, officers said. The man was not immediately identified.The suspected car, a 2004 Honda Accord, was located nearby at a gas station off the highway. Officer said they have the vehicle's license plate as well.The driver has yet to be located. 568

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man was arrested Monday morning on suspicion of breaking into a Pacific Beach home and sexually assaulting a sleeping woman earlier in the month, San Diego Police said.Jeffrey Hanze, also known as Jeffrey Hanre, was taken into custody in Los Angeles County by sheriff’s deputies at 3:45 a.m. No details about the arrest were released.Hanze entered a home in Pacific Beach through an open window about 2 a.m. the morning of October 1, San Diego Police said. RELATED: Police release photo of Pacific Beach sexual assault suspectInvestigators said Hanze sexually assaulted the woman who was sleeping, but left when she woke up.Hanze was considered armed and dangerous at the time of his arrest.10News checked Hanze's criminal background and found he has at least two felonies out of San Diego. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A Lemon Grove man was charged Wednesday with aiming a laser pointer at a San Diego Police helicopter as a demonstration moved through Hillcrest last weekend.Rudy Alvarez, 24, was charged with aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft hovering over the protest on June 6, according to the Department of Justice.A federal complaint alleges Alvarez shined a laser at the SDPD aircraft at about 8:30 p.m. in the area of the 500 block of University Ave. During that time, a large demonstration was moving through the area, investigators added.Alvarez was located multiple times over the next hour in the crowd, before police identified him on G St. just before 10 p.m. and arrested him without incident.Detectives say they found a high-powered gray metal laser pointer in his front left pant pocket."Aiming a laser pointer at or near an aircraft could cause distraction or blindness to a pilot and the consequences could be devastating," said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer. "We support the Constitutional rights of free speech and assembly, but it is our duty to protect the public and law enforcement from danger."Alvarez's bond was set at ,000 and his next hearing was set for June 23. 1205
