She said at the beginning of the concert, everyone felt safe, and one of the band members said to the crowd, "With everything going on in the world today, we are Americans first before anything else. We are all one and just forget everything going on and let’s all become one tonight.”Later in the concert, the keyboard player started to play another song, then abruptly stopped, she said. Conlon said they were told by security that they had to leave right away. NEW YORK CITY — Snitches get — a quarter of the proceeds?New York City city legislators have proposed a new bill that would allow people in the city to report others for parking illegally and take a cut of the fine.Two Democratic New York City councilmen — Council Speaker Corey Johnson and Stephen Levin — are the primary sponsors of the bill that would create a 5 fine for obstruction of a bike lane, bus lane, sidewalk, cross walk or fire hydrant under certain conditions.The bill would also create a civilian reporting program, essentially allowing passersby to submit complaints — and provide evidence — of a violation to the Department of Transportation. NEW YORK (AP and KGTV) — Sears is closing 80 more stores, including six locations in San Diego, as it teeters on the brink of liquidation.The iconic retailer, once the nation's largest department store chain, set a deadline of Friday for bids for its remaining stores to avert closing down completely.Sears has not received any bids as of Friday afternoon.The retailer that began out as a mail order catalog in the 1880s has been in a slow death spiral, hobbled by the Great Recession and then overwhelmed by rivals both down the street and across the internet.The 80 stores are due to close by March. That's in addition to 182 stores already slated for closure, including 142 by the end of 2108 and 40 by February. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October , saying at the time it would close more than 20 percent of all stores, keeping open only its 500 most profitable locations.Sears Holdings Corp., which also runs Kmart, joins the list of retail brands taken over by hedge funds that collapsed under the weight of debt forced upon them.Under hedge fund manager Eddie Lampert, Sears has bought time by spinning off stores and putting on the block the brands that had grown synonymous with the company, such as Craftsman. The company's chairman and biggest shareholder, Lampert loaned out his own money and put together deals to keep the company afloat and to turn whatever profit he could for ESL hedge fund. NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. health officials on Friday told people to avoid romaine lettuce grown in Salinas, California, because of another food poisoning outbreak.The notice comes almost exactly one year after a similar outbreak led to a blanket warning about romaine.Officials urged Americans not to eat the leafy green if the label doesn’t say where it was grown. They also urged supermarkets and restaurants not to serve or sell the lettuce, unless they’re sure it was grown elsewhere.The warning applies to all types of romaine from the Salinas region, include whole heads, hearts and pre-cut salad mixes.RELATED: More than 97K pounds of salad products recalled over potential E. coli contamination“We’re concerned this romaine could be in other products,” said Laura Gieraltowski, lead investigator of the outbreak at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.Officials said their investigation led to farms in Salinas and that they are looking for the source of E. coli tied to the illnesses. Salinas is a major growing region for romaine from around April to this time of year, when growing shifts south to Yuma, Arizona.After last year’s pre-Thanksgiving outbreak tied to romaine, the produce industry agreed to voluntarily label the lettuce with harvest regions. North Korea has been sending supplies to Syria that could be used to produce chemical weapons, a United Nations Security Council diplomat has told CNN.Speaking on condition of anonymity, the diplomat said that North Korea had sent acid-resistant tiles, valves and thermometers to Syria. The diplomat was citing a report on North Korea authored by a UN panel of experts.The details come just two days after the Syrian regime was accused of carrying out a chlorine gas attack on Eastern Ghouta, a suburb in the Syrian capital, Damascus.  548
