McGee loves the city dearly, but it costs her.She and a roommate are splitting the ,700 a month rent for the aging townhome, with a kitchen so small only one person can fit inside at a time."Everybody talks about the new promise lands - the Denvers, the Portlands, and now it's even Boise, Idaho is the place to go," McGee said. "But I'm just trying to make it work in Paradise."With its big sandy beaches, an expansive boardwalk and a quaint shopping district downtown, Santa Barbara calls itself the American Riviera. But many of the people who work in the city can't afford it. But he says the industry still deals with the high cost of labor and community character concerns. Santa Barbara, on the other hand, has an incentive program with a goal of adding 250 new units near transit centers. (KGTV) — A man taken into custody last week after he was involved in a San Marcos crash and authorities discovered a dead body in his pickup truck has been arrested for murder and turned over to Anaheim Police.Anaheim Police say Abdulaziz Munther Alubidy, 30, was booked into Anaheim Detention Facility and is being held without bail.The San Sheriff's Department says Alubidy was involved in a crash just after 4 p.m. late Friday at San Marcos Boulevard and Rancho Santa Fe in San Marcos. When deputies responded and looked inside his Toyota Tundra pickup truck, they discovered the body of 56-year-old Jessie Villesca of Anaheim.RELATED: One person is dead after car crash in San MarcosDeputies said Villesca's injuries indicated she was murdered. Alubidy was detained at the scene.Anaheim Police were contacted after deputies say they found evidence indicating Villesca had been killed near W. Corporate Way and N. Muller Street in Anaheim earlier on Friday.Anaheim homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. Detectives didn't discuss any possible motives or any further details. (KGTV and AP) -- A Coronado parachutist jumped out of a plane over Normandy Wednesday, just as soldiers did 75 years ago, according to the Associated Press. The parachutists were honoring the airborne soldiers who jumped into gunfire ahead of the June 6 1944 seaborne invasion. 97-year-old D-Day veteran Tom Rice was among the paratroopers who leapt out of planes that day. According to the Associated Press, Rice jumped in tandem Wednesday into roughly the same area he landed on D-Day. “It went perfect, perfect jump,” Rice said following the jump. “I feel great. I’d go up and do it again.”On D-Day, Rice jumped with the 101st Airborne Division, landing safely despite catching himself on the exit and a bullet hitting his parachute. Rice flew down Wednesday with the stars and stripes flag beneath him, landing with loud applause. Other parachutists jumped with World War II souvenirs, some of which were worn by their grandfathers into battle. Rice said following the jump that he feels he represents a whole generation.
