Actor Brendan Fraser has accused a member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the group that presents the annual Golden Globe Awards, of groping him at an event in 2003.In a profile in GQ, Fraser recounts an encounter with former HFPA president Philip Berk at a luncheon hosted by the organization at the Beverly Hills Hotel.Fraser alleges Berk grabbed his rear end and, through his pants, touched him in the area between his genitals and his anus."I felt ill. I felt like a little kid," Fraser told GQ. "I felt like there was a ball in my throat. I thought I was going to cry."After the incident Fraser, best known for his work in the "Mummy" franchise and films like "School Ties," said he became "depressed."A representative for Fraser confirmed his account to CNN and said there was no further comment.Berk, still a member of the HFPA, admitted that he pinched Fraser's buttock at the event in question but said in his interview with GQ he did so in jest."The charge of a sexual innuendo is a total fabrication and a desperate attempt by Fraser to rescucitate (sic) his career," Berk told CNN.In response to questions posed to Berk by GQ, shared with CNN by Berk, he said the alleged encounter "occurred in front of dozens of people" and said he "had two witnesses."Berk did apologize to Fraser for the incident, after prompting from Fraser's then personal publicist."My apology admitted no wrong doing, the usual 'if I've done anything that upset Mr. Fraser it was not intended and I apologize,'" Berk said. The HFPA told CNN in a statement that the GQ article contains "alleged information that the HFPA was previously unaware of" and that they are "investigating further details surrounding the incident.""The HFPA stands firmly against sexual harassment and the type of behavior described in this article," the statement from the HFPA read. "Over the years we've continued a positive working relationship with Brendan, which includes announcing Golden Globe nominees, attending the ceremony and participating in press conferences."Fraser said the incident "made me retreat" and "feel reclusive." He chose not to come forward for a long time. In the aftermath of Hollywood's reckoning with sexual harassment, however, he says he's found his voice. He tells GQ: "Am I still frightened? Absolutely. Do I feel like I need to say something? Absolutely. Have I wanted to many, many times? Absolutely. Have I stopped myself? Absolutely."Fraser has in recent years appeared on Showtime's "The Affair" and miniseries "Texas Rising."He will next appear in FX's "Trust."  2587

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron Police Department is investigating a viral video that shows officers using a Taser on a man and punching him while he was on the ground during an arrest. The video, captured by a neighbor, shows one officer punching the man multiple times.Warning: The video below includes images and language that some users may find disturbing.Akron police said they saw the man, who they identified as 47-year-old Patrick King, coming out of a known drug house Sunday. They made an investigative stop while he was walking down the street.King gave false information about his identity, an Akron police official said. An officer tried to detain him and got a handcuff on one of his hands. King then resisted by trying to run away, pulling away, tensing up and refusing all verbal commands, the official said.A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, captured the incident on video and posted it to Facebook – it’s since been shared over 3,000 times and viewed over 147,000 times. The neighbor felt the officers went too far."As soon as they put the one handcuff on him, that's when they got to throwing him around and slamming him and beating on him and stuff like that," he said.Akron police said they arrested King and charged him with tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, misrepresenting identity, drug paraphernalia and drug abuse. King also had an active warrant out of Cuyahoga County for a parole violation.Akron police said they have begun a use of force investigation into this incident. Akron officials have not identified the officers who were involved. Deputy Chief Jesse Leeser said King is 6-feet-4 and 220 pounds and the officers were winded trying to get him under control."Officers used force to include tasing, strikes and pressure points," Leeser said. "He was obviously actively fighting with these officers. The fight had gone to the ground. Not only did he have that handcuff as a weapon possibly, but the officers were also exposed. We're not street fighters."Leeser said all of the officers remain on the job. 2076

After multiple news outlets projected that Democrats would take control of the House of Representatives, President Trump called House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in a show of bipartisanship, CNN reports.Trump's call came just hours after White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders indicated to pool reporters Tuesday that Trump would not reach out to Pelosi (D-California)."I'm not sure why you would call Nancy Pelosi considering a lot of people in her own party have said they wouldn't support her," Sanders told pool reporters. "If Democrats win tonight, I think we need to wait and see who their speaker is."Trump attacked Pelosi repeatedly while stumping for Republican House candidates in the lead-up to the midterm elections.A number of Democrats have distanced themselves from Pelosi since 2016. Following the 2016 election, Pelosi faced a challenged from Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) for House Minority leader. 950

After two and a half weeks of historic destruction, the Camp Fire in Northern California is 100% contained, but the search for remains threatens to push the death toll over 85, where it stood early Sunday. It's already the state's deadliest fire.Officials found two bodies in Paradise and another in Magalia, both of which sit just west of the Plumas National Forest, roughly 100 miles north of Sacramento.Since it began November 8, the fire has destroyed almost 14,000 homes, 514 businesses and 4,265 other buildings. It has covered more than 153,000 acres, roughly the size of Chicago.Cal Fire, the state's forestry and fire protection agency, announced the fire was completely contained early Sunday. As of Saturday evening, the uncontained portion of the fire was along steep terrain unsafe for firefighters due to recent heavy rains, the agency said.More than 2,500 people are now accounted for, according to the Butte County Sheriff's Office. While 251 people remain missing, the sheriff's office says, that number is down from more than 1,000 just a few days ago.The sheriff's office is maintaining a public list of missing people and offering to swab the cheeks of immediate relatives in hopes of identifying those lost in the fire. 1247

Actress Amanda Kloots took issue with President Donald Trump's call to Americans to not let COVID-19 "dominate" their lives on Monday — four months to the day after her husband died of COVID-19.Kloots' husband, Nick Cordero, died on July 5 after a months-long battle with COVID-19. Cordero was first diagnosed with the virus on March 30, and his brutal fight with the virus included weeks spent in a coma and the amputation of his right leg.On Monday, despite the fact that his doctors said that he isn't "out of the woods," Trump left the hospital with the blessing of his physicians to return to the White House."Feeling really good! Don't be afraid of Covid. Don't let it dominate your life," Trump tweeted prior to his release from the hospital. "We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago."Kloots took issue with Trump's choice of words."It's beyond hurtful," she said in a since-expired story on Instagram. In a message to followers that lasted several minutes, Kloots said that those who contract COVID-19 and their loved ones aren't being "dominated" by the virus by choice."No one is letting it (dominate). Nick didn't let it. It isn't a choice. It dominated his life; it dominated my life; it dominated our family's lives for 95 days," Kloots said. "And because he didn't make it, it will forever affect my life. Even if he would have survived, it would have forever affected and changed our lives." 1503
