SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- California's energy operator have issued a statewide Flex Alert ahead of anticipated high temperatures this coming weekend.The California Independent System Operator (ISO) is calling for voluntary electricity conservation, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14."With high temperatures in the forecast, the power grid operator is predicting an increase in electricity demand, primarily from residential air conditioning use," the ISO said in a statement.In San Diego, an Excessive Heat Warning will be in effect from noon Friday until 8pm Monday from the inland areas to the deserts. The heat will peak on Friday and Saturday with temperatures ranging 5 to 15 degrees above normal.The above-normal temperatures and humidity will stick around through most of next week."Consumers are urged to conserve electricity, especially during the late afternoon and early evening, when the grid is most stressed due to higher demand and solar energy production falling. Consumers are also asked to turn off unnecessary lights, use major appliances before 3 p.m. and after 10 p.m., and set air conditioner thermostats to 78 degrees or higher," the ISO said.Conservation Tips ? SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — At least three large sharks were spotted off the coast of Torrey Pines State Beach swimming close to surfers in the water on Thursday.California State Parks Lifeguards say they received reports of five sharks swimming about 50 feet from shore and 100 to 200 yards from Lifeguards Tower 1 at about 12 p.m. The sharks were seen specifically gliding around the Flat Rock area, located north of Black's Beach and south of Torrey Pines State Beach, according to a State Parks spokesperson.Sky10 was overhead as the sharks swam nearby surfers who were just offshore of Torrey Pines:Officials say the largest of the sharks, which may have been great white sharks, was about 10 feet in length."The sharks did not interact with any beachgoers during this time. The shark actions are considered non-aggressive and consistent with normal white shark behavior," a State Parks spokesperson said.A San Diego Fire-Rescue Lifeguard made announcements to people in the water about the sighting. Announcements were being made in the area up to one mile south of Bathtub Rock, SDFD spokeswoman Monica Mu?oz said.Shark sighting signs would remain up in the area for 24 hours, officials said. 1198

The announcement was made on Instagram and the closures take effect Sunday, March 15. “On behalf of our staff and community and in the interest of keeping our city safe, we are temporarily suspending our operations,” Malarkey said. The cool zones, spread out throughout the county, provide designated air-conditioned facilities that provide a place to beat the heat. According to county officials, the cool zones provide a place where seniors and others can congregate to protect their health and reduce individual energy costs. The program has been in operation since 2001. The County Health and Human Services Agency Aging and Independence Services partners with San Diego Gas and Electric to provide the service. Be your most physically active during the coolest part of the day, usually between 4-7 a.m. Pace yourself when engaging in physical activity.Stay indoors as much as possible. Though, Wilson added a shutdown was worth ensuing more border security for him and other agents. "It's about darn time Congress do something about border security. They keep punting, and we're very, very tired of it.
