SANTA FE, N.M. — Building a business takes time.It’s a step-by-step, day-by-day process. “I tell my customers, garments come in sizes, people come in shapes, so I connect them,” says Laura Hermosillo. SUNNYVALE, Calif. – A United Parcel Service (UPS) worker was planning a mass shooting at the facility he worked at in California, according to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety. The department says it learned of the threat Sunday after receiving a report that 32-year-old Thomas Andrews had sent text messages to his employer, threatening the shooting. Officers began investigating and discovered Andrews was the registered owner of four handguns and rifle. Law enforcement then began an extensive search for him. At about 11:15 p.m. Sunday, the department says officers spotted Andrews and attempted to stop him, but he led them in a vehicle pursuit on a nearby highway. Eventually, he was taken into custody.Detectives obtained a search warrant for Andrews’ home, where officers say they located more than 20,000 rounds of handgun and rifle ammunition, numerous high capacity magazines, five tactical style rifles, one shotgun, three handguns and body armor. “Several tactical backpacks containing ammunition were staged at the front door of the apartment where the suspect resides,” wrote the department 1127

Registration for the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee is more than just a chance to sign-in for the competition.It’s a chance to make friends, with the nearly 600 people gearing up for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.“I've dreamed of being here. I never thought I’d make it,” says 7th-grader Frank Salzeider, who is from Detroit, Michigan. “Felt like it's crazy. It's like, I can’t explain. I can’t explain. No one can explain.”Salzeider and other contestants signed each other’s “Beekeepers” books, which are similar to a yearbook. Rockland County, a suburb of New York City, is taking a big step when it comes to vaccination. Effective Wednesday, any unvaccinated child is banned from public places. Their parents could even face jail time. "Anyone who is under 18 years of age and is unvaccinated against the measles will be barred from public places until the declaration expires in 30 days,” announced Ed Day, a Rockland County executive. A state of emergency was declared in the county, following what officials say is the worst measles outbreak there in decades. As of this week, there have been 153 confirmed cases. "We have now the worst outbreak in the nation,” said Day. “The time has come to do something." Minors, excluding those with medical exemptions, are now barred from schools, churches and stores. Although police won't be patrolling vaccination records, leaders say parents could face jail time and fines. "If you have threats of being arrested and put in jail for 6 months because you choose not to inject your child with a pharmaceutical product, that’s the definition of fascism," argues Philip Silberman, an anti-vaxxer.
