CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Hundreds gathered on Coronado Saturday morning for the 2019 Witches Tea. The event, organized by Rebecca Geiss, started in 1999 with nine women. Since its humble origin, the event has exploded in size. This year, 254 people showed up for the 21 and older event. The celebration centers around attendees dressing up as witches, dancing, and having a spooktacular time on beautiful Coronado. Photos from this year’s event show a multitude of creativity with some dressed as Glinda the Good Witch from “The Wizzard of Oz.” Other photos show some of the women embracing group costumes. Throughout the day, the women take buses to establishments throughout Coronado and San Diego. Attendees aren't told where they're going, adding an element of surprise to Witches Tea. In 2018, all the proceeds from the event went to the C4 Foundation, which provides support and resources through science-based programs to active-duty Navy SEALs and their families. Comedians are apologizing for using blackface in skits, and networks are removing shows that feature blackface amid renewed attention on the racist portrayals.On Tuesday, Tina Fey asked that four episodes of '30 Rock' get pulled from circulation.The '30 Rock' episodes featured Jane Krakowski's character, Jenna, in two cases wearing blackface and Jon Hamm in blackface during a season six episode, CBS News reported. CLAY COUNTY, Tennessee — Three people were shot Monday morning at a residence in Clay County, Tennessee, where a school bus driver pulled up to the scene and provided aid.The incident was reported at a home on Crabtree Creek Road and North Fork Road in Whitleyville. A school bus driver called 9-1-1 after he or she pulled up to a stop and realized there had been an incident in the home. Initial reports indicated that the shooting happened on a school bus. However, Clay County School officials confirmed the incident did not happen on the bus. The bus driver gave aid to at least one person in the home.  At least two of the victims were airlifted to Nashville for treatment. College enrollment is dropping sharply among high school seniors.A new report finds the number of students who immediately went on to college this year fell by nearly 22% on average.Breaking that down by area, under-served communities have been hit hardest, nearly a 30% drop for low-income high schools and 33% for high poverty high schools.The National College Attainment Network funded the research. They tell us students lost access to support networks when schools went virtual.And then, many students in communities hit hardest by COVID-19 didn't have a choice other than to get a job and support their families.“They get used to that. Their families get used to that. Their families need that from them, and it makes the idea of thinking about college later in life after high school graduation all the more impossible,” said Kim Cook, Executive Director at the National College Attainment Network.The group's biggest message is to stay engaged.It's not too late to apply for federal student aid, like the Pell Grant or subsidized student loans.There are online resources through the U.S. Department of Education and platforms like the Common App that offer chat options to answer questions.Even just a couple classes at a community college will help keep you on track. You can also reach out to institutions you previously applied to but felt like you couldn't go to. Talk to the financial aid office about how your circumstances have changed.“This is all about making it an open conversation and reaching out to those supports and telling them you'd like to enroll and asking them to help you make that happen and what kind of options you have now,” said Cook.The data suggests that declining college enrollment will not only continue, but possibly get worse next fall.This time of year, current seniors should be focusing on keeping grades up and writing essays for applications. 1897
