Brian Turner, a TSA agent, and his wife are new parents. Thanks to the government shutdown, Turner has no idea when he'll get his next paycheck, and the couple is worried they could run out of money by the end of the month. “We are a paycheck to paycheck family, in the reality of it,” Turner says. “So, we do depend on that constant income.” Turner is considered an essential employee, so he still has to work even though he's not currently getting paid.“When you don't have a paycheck coming in and you don't have a guaranteed source of income when you thought you did, it's disheartening and it kind of makes you feel a little panicked,” he says.For some TSA agents, the shutdown is taking its toll. A growing number of agents are now calling out sick to work other places or to find new jobs. Safety and long lines could become another concern if the shutdown continues. “Poor morale or other issues that could affect the TSA because of the shutdown and not getting paid, that could have some sort of intangible effect on how well they're doing their jobs,” says David Inserra, with the Heritage Foundation. “People are people, and if you're not getting paid, if you're upset, you're probably not going to be doing as good of a job as you otherwise would.” For now, Turner is still going to work. He hopes Congress and President Trump do the same and find a shutdown solution. “You feel hopeless and you feel helpless,” Turner expresses. “I'm not in Washington. Three Gulf Coast states were placed under a Tropical Storm Warning on Friday as Tropical Storm Cristobal is setting its sights for the US late Sunday. According the National Hurricane Center, Cristobal is a minimal tropical storm along the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico with top winds of 40 MPH. The slow-moving storm has dumped heavy rain over the Yucatan Peninsula this week.After stalling out over the Yucatan Peninsula, the National Hurricane Center projects the storm will move across the Gulf of Mexico this weekend before coming ashore late Sunday. Parts of the Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama coast are under a Tropical Storm Watch.The Atlantic Hurricane Season is off to its most active start in recorded history. Cristobal is already the third named storm of 2020. No other hurricane season has had three named storms this early in the year. The storm is forecast to remain a tropical storm through landfall, although the National Hurricane Center expects Cristobal to strengthen into a strong tropical storm by landfall. Pharmacy Benefit Managers often referred to as PBMs, are companies hired to help insurance companies save money.But Tulsa Pharmacist Chris Schiller said it's the patients who end up paying more. "They negotiated drug prices and did lower costs," Shiller said. "But since that time 15 years ago, they've used all these different tactics to make money where they've actually increased costs 1,010 percent."Schiller hopes HB2632 and SB841 will pass and help regulate PBMs. He said PBMs tell the patient what pharmacy they can use, eliminating your choice of where to get your prescription filled. "I'm hoping to see a level playing field for all pharmacies that protects the patient's right to choose," Schiller said.
