SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - New documents in a search warrant reveal evidence in the investigation of the Poway synagogue shooting during which one person was killed and three were injured. Evidence cited in the documents confirms rumors that have been spread over the last two months surrounding a possible live stream and an alternative chat room site where many alleged John T. Earnest adopted his hateful ideology.The document states, "San Diego Police Department ("SDPD") Officers responded to that location and took John Earnest into custody without further incident. Seen on the front passenger seat was an AR-I5 rifle but no handgun was visible. Additionally, in the vehicle was a helmet with a Go-Pro camera on it."The document later describes the suspect's disposition after officers made contact. "At that time, Earnest did not appear to be under the influence of a controlled substance but did appear to have a 'flat affect' as though he was detached or unaffected by his actions," the document says.The document brings up the manifesto that was the subject of a previous 10News report. "An SDSD system data miner, found a manifesto on Pastebin.com written by a person identifying himself as John Earnest," the document says. "In the manifesto, which he named 'An Open Letter.'"On page six of the document, there is a reference to how Earnest adopted his ideology. "During that interview, he informed an SDSO Detective that he had adopted his ideology of hate for members of the Jewish religion approximately 18 month earlier. Based on my training and experience, I know that there is a process in which someone undergoes adoption of radical ideologies. This process can take several months or several years before a person actually commits to those ideologies. During the interview, Earnest also stated that he was inspired by individuals such as Adolph Hitler and Brenton Tarrant."The document also looks at a Facebook post, from a page investigators linked to Earnest. "Earnest made a posting in which he thought to draw attention to his forthcoming attack on the Chabad of Poway, share his views through his open letter, and offer people the opportunity to observe the attack itself," the document says.The document also contains statements referring to the alternative message board site 8chan, where many believe Earnest adopted a hateful ideology. "Earnest stated in the subject posting, "I've only been lurking for a year and a half, yet, what I've learned here is priceless." This information suggests that Earnest was inspired and/or educated by individuals who commented on his threads."The document explains how hard it is to track users on the site and how easy it is to modify or erase information on the site. For those reasons investigators wanted to keep the search warrant sealed.In attached files, the document shows comments from 8chan users asking "anyone had a decent read of the manifesto yet?" As well as "Anybody not already at least on a vpn [virtual private network] is playing with fire here, don't get yourselves caught before actually making an effort."Earnest will be in court for the preliminary hearing for his state case on August 19. 3182

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Point Loma High School students welcomed gender-neutral homecoming royalty this week, eliminating the traditional roles of king and queen.At Friday night’s homecoming game, two senior boys were selected as kings. Most students at Point Loma High School said they support the change.Associated Student Body president Ila Komasa told 10News previous homecoming kings and queens were couples. This year, she wanted to make it more individualized. “We didn’t believe the couple aspect applied to what homecoming court meant to us and what it should represent for the students," Komasa said.Komasa was hopeful students would be given the opportunity to vote for anyone they wanted.“We made the decision to individually elect and nominate two students from each grade level as homecoming court and then for seniors, homecoming royalty.” It’s an effort to make homecoming more inclusive, no longer focusing on one’s high school relationship status, rather the impact made on peers. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - President Donald Trump said San Diego "needs a wall" while he toured eight border wall prototypes along the county's southern border Tuesday.During his visit, the president stopped intermittently during his inspection of the structures to discuss the wall and, at times, slam the state over its immigration policies."For the people that say no wall, if you didn't have walls over here you wouldn't even have a country," Trump said at the prototypes. "And, by the way, the state of California is begging us to build walls in certain areas. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Postal workers across San Diego will have an extra pickup this Saturday - they're working to end hunger in San Diego. The San Diego Food Bank and the National Association of Letter Carriers are asking San Diegans to participate in the annual Stamp Out Hunger event by setting out bags of nonperishable food items next to their mailboxes. The letter carriers will pick up the donations on their route and deliver them to the Food Bank's warehouse. “After the holiday season, food donations drop dramatically, and this one-day food drive helps us restock our shelves ahead of the summer months when we see increased in demand from children on summer vacation who stop receiving free school meals and face hunger at home,” said San Diego Food Bank President & CEO, Jim Floros.Last year, 244,489 pounds of food was collected from homes in San Diego County alone for the San Diego Food Bank and our North County Food Bank chapter.The food was distributed through the Food Bank’s network of 400 nonprofit partner agenciesMost needed items:  1096

She uses an app to call a smart shuttle, which takes her to a transit center she hops on a subway, and is whisked away.Or, she can drive on a toll lane and get across the county in 20 to 25 minutes."Think about the impossible, take risks. Keep going," said Hasan Ikhrata, the San Diego Association of Government's executive director. Ikhrata and his team unveiled its transit vision for the region Friday, with a target completion of 2050.The goal is to take the reliance off the car or make it more efficient for drivers with lanes that can change purposes based on traffic patterns. Still, it will come at a cost: 7 billion."It's expensive but I think it's worth the investment," Ikhrata said. "I think it's more expensive not to do it than to do it."Ikhrata says the plan will have to go to a public vote, and that it could involve a tax increase.
