A 64-year-old Painesville Township, Ohio resident was hailed as a hero after authorities say he stopped a man who chased a mother and her two children from their home after he allegedly broke in.Police said the resident, Thomas Jones, opened his door after he heard his neighbor pounding on it and yelling for help.According to authorities, Jones' neighbor and her two children had just run from their house after a 30-year-old man allegedly forced his way into their home through the back door. The suspect chased the woman into her bedroom and then laid down on the floor claiming someone was trying to kill him, police said. The woman was able to escape the bedroom and run from the residence with her 5 and 7-year-old children and call 911.Listen to the 911 call below. Warning: The call contains graphic language.A short time later, the suspect came across the street and onto the porch in an attempt to gain entry to the house where the woman and her children took shelter.Jones and the suspect fought until deputies arrived, at which time the 30-year-old was taken into custody. The suspect was identified as Bobby Collier, of East Jackson Street, Painesville.Police said Collier had an active warrant out for a parole violation. It also appeared that he was under the influence of an unknown drug.Collier was charged with aggravated burglary, burglary, assault, criminal damaging, and aggravated trespass.Jones later told the sheriff's department, he "only did what anyone would do."The sheriff's department said they "commend Thomas Jones for his selfless act and thank him for his outstanding efforts." 1643

(KGTV) - Not many people have a Coronado bridge story like Bertha Loaiza.Loaiza was 3-years-old in August of 1985 when her mother jumped from the 246-foot tall bridge holding her.The mother and daughter were unconscious when fisherman pulled them out of the harbor. 24-year-old Angelica Medina never took another breath, but responders were able to resuscitate Bertha.“Honestly it’s hard for even me to believe,” said Loaiza, who suffered a broken hip and cataracts in her right eye from the incident, “My memories blocked out — but I’m good now.’Growing up, her family told her that her mother died in a car accident, but she figured out the real story as a teenager after watching an old news clip.“It makes me sad she didn’t have the resources that are available to everybody today,” said Loaiza. Now 36, Loaiza says she was angry at her mom when she first found out. Now, she wants to do something positive in her mom’s legacy.“The ledge is not high enough,” said Loaiza, “We need to put more barriers.”Loaiza is a member of the Coronado Bridge Collaborative and is among those stumping for suicide barriers along the Coronado bridge.Caltrans debuted several designs for the barriers earlier this year, but funding and approval from agencies involved remain the biggest hindrances. Loaiza knows it’s difficult to stop someone from harming themselves, but she believes making it harder for those that want to will have an impact.“I just want to know that I’ll have saved one life,” said Loiza, “And it will all be worth it."If you or a loved are contemplating suicide, call the suicide helpline number at (888-724-7240).  1656

@Disneyland @Disney @DisneyParks @WaltDisneyCo Putting a gift shop inside the Main Street Cinema is a disgrace. As if there aren’t enough shops in Disney Land! Why can’t things be left untouched?? A 3-year-old boy and his 1-year-old brother were on their own -- possibly for days -- after surviving a single-vehicle crash that killed their mother in south Arkansas. The older of the two boys was found Monday morning after authorities received a 911 call about a boy who was seen walking by himself in a rural area on a state highway near Camden, Arkansas, Ouachita County Detective Nathan Greeley told CNN.The boy was covered in cuts and scrapes and appeared to have been outside for an extended period, Greeley said."You could tell he was extremely traumatized," Greeley said.Officials gave the boy a bath, food and a change of clothes and distributed a description of him. A family member contacted the sheriff's office and told authorities that the boy's 1-year-old brother was likely nearby, Greeley said. The relative also said the children's mother had not been seen since going grocery shopping on Thursday. 925
