How do you re-capture a gigantic runaway pig?According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, deputies received a call on Saturday that a pig "the size of a mini horse" was roaming a local neighborhood.Deputies were quickly able to track down the swine and determined where he lived, but still had to figure out how to corral him and get him home. It turns out, pigs don't need to be corralled if there are Doritos on hand.According to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Office, Deputy Ponce had a bag of Doritos on hand in her lunch box and was able to lure the pig back to his home by laying a trail of chips on the street. The pig made it safely home and deputies were able to secure the gate. Ponce called the journey "fun."The Doritos appeared to be of the Cool Ranch variety. It's unclear if the pig would have been swayed by Nacho Cheese chips.  880

IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif., (KGTV) — After six grueling days on the fire line, members of the San Diego-based Strike Team called to fight the Kincade Fire are back home. 10News met with the fire crew from Imperial Beach, who said this was the first time in 11 years that they were called to assist in Northern California. Today, they were back on duty, just hours after their arrival. It's just another day at the Imperial Beach firehouse. Fire Engineer Cory Cooper, firefighter Nick Morales, and Captain Ehren Kahle are cleaning up their ride, Engine 39, after a long trip up north. "It was just kind of a gentle immersion into chaos," Kahle said. Last Friday, the three were part of a large San Diego-based Strike Team called to assist in Sonoma County. As soon as they arrived, they headed straight to the fire line. "It started out with light smoke, which progressively got worse, to a point where my engineer had difficulty seeing the road at some point," Kahle said. Buildings had crumbled, citizens were in chaos. But they were there, fighting the explosive flames, seemingly non-stop."We rest when we can," Kahle laughed. Once the spread slowed down, the team headed back home. The men arrived at 11 p.m. on Thursday. While firefighters in larger departments are given a 24-hour rest period, these guys with the small Imperial Beach department are already back on shift."We're right back to our normal routine."It's day-to-day calls like these, as well as being part of a large Strike Team that reminds Captain Kahle of the true camaraderie of the fire service. "Although I may be going out on a Strike Team with men that I have never worked with or never even met in my entire life, you can probably take a firefighter off of an engine from San Diego, Coronado, National City, or Poway, throw them onto their engine, and they will drive right into that crew and be able to function," Kahle said. In a new effort to tackle the deadly opioid addiction crisis in the US, pharmacy giant CVS announced on Friday it will limit opioid prescriptions to seven days for certain conditions. This restriction will apply to patients who are new to pain therapy. The new pharmacy program will also limit the daily dosage of pain pills based on their strength and will require use of immediate-release formulations before extended release opioids -- intended for severe, long-term pain treatment -- are dispensed. The changes will roll out on February 1, 2018 and cover all commercial, health plan, employer and Medicaid clients.CVS, which manages medications for nearly 90 million plan members, is one of the largest pharmaceutical chains in the US, with approximately 9,600 CVS Pharmacy stores and more than 1,100 walk-in medical clinics."With a presence in nearly 10,000 communities across the country, we see firsthand the impact of the alarming and rapidly growing epidemic of opioid addiction and misuse," said Larry J. Merlo, president and CEO of CVS Health. From 1999 to 2014, sales of prescription opioids in the US almost quadrupled, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, yet there has been no change in pain reported by Americans.CVS said its pharmacists will also counsel patients with opioid prescriptions about the risk of dependence and addiction based on CDC guidelines. These educational sessions will also emphasize the importance of keeping medications secure in the home and proper disposal of unused medication. To help patients wanting to follow these guidelines, the company will almost double the number of drug disposal units in its Medication Disposal for Safer Communities Program from 800 to 1,550 kiosks. This expansion will begin this fall with locations in Florida, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and the District of Columbia. The company is also committing million to Community Health Centers that provide medication-assisted treatment and other addiction recovery services. The President's opioid commission says that about 142 Americans die every day from a drug overdose, equal to the death toll from the September 11 attacks every three weeks. Most of those overdoses are from opioids.Though there were over 30,000 fatal overdoses from opioid drugs in 2015, public health experts believe that for every fatal overdose, there are 30 non-fatal overdoses. That would mean over 900,000 overdoses in 2015 alone.According to the CDC, drug overdoses are the leading cause of unintentional death in the US.  2589
