The success of a pilot test in a Nebraska county in which all people have the option to vote by mail has spurred the initiative in three more counties there.Turnout in Garden County for the May 15, 2018 primary, with an all-mail vote option, was more than 58 percent. Now, Dawes, Merrick and Morrill counties in Nebraska have been approved for all-mail voting for the election slated for next month, according to the Lincoln Journal Star.Factors that may keep people from going to physical polls include site accessibility, amount of poll workers available from three political parties and community feedback, the Associated Press reports.According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, at least 22 states have provisions allowing some elections to be done by all-mail voting. Three entire states — Colorado, Washington and Oregon — provide all-mail voting. In the 2014 election in Colorado, the vote-at-home option increased turnout by 3.3 percent, research shows. It was up among people with a history of low turnout.Vote-by-mail 1059

The Suwannee County School District takes the health, safety, and welfare of all of our students seriously. The school district, and our employees, deny that we had any role in the very tragic death of the former student. There is no merit to the allegations contained in the complaint that has been filed. We look forward to a complete exoneration through the legal process.I have no further information at this time that I can provide given the status of the pending litigation. 487

The University of San Diego's head men's basketball coach Lamont Smith was arrested Sunday in the Bay Area and is facing three domestic violence charges, according to public records released by the San Francisco Sheriff's Department.Allen Lamont Smith, 42, was arrested at Oakland International Airport prior to the USD basketball team's flight back to San Diego following a 64-61 win over the University of San Francisco in last night's regular season finale.Officers were dispatched to the team hotel near Union Square late last night on reports of a domestic violence disturbance. The victim told police she was intimately involved with Smith. Mark Ostrowski with Check Point Software. The security company says coronavirus-related cyber attacks are down since the summer, but the number of malicious websites related to COVID-19 vaccines is up.The warnings were reiterated Wednesday by French-based international policing agency Interpol, which issued a global alert that organized crime groups may be attempting to sell stolen vaccines or set up scams with the promise of vaccines. So-called "threat actors" are sending out vaccine-related email phishing campaigns. A recent one had the email subject: "Urgent information letter: COVID-19 new approved vaccines."“So, what I would really warn folks is that if you receive an email that contains a vaccine sort of sensational type of subject in the email itself, and then there's an attachment, and the attachment is either an executable or office document, those are things that you want to watch out for,” said Ostrowski.People who opened that document in the phishing email actually had a way to steal usernames and passwords. You should only get your vaccine-related information from trusted news or government websites, not your inbox.“This is just the next thing, right. So, every time there's a new announcement, that specific subject, that specific entity, that's tied to say a vaccine is what's going to become the next target, right. So, these threat actors are very, very closely monitoring the global pandemic and then using those moments to quickly make and adjust their attack methods.” 1806
