Attorney General William Barr is back on Capitol Hill Wednesday to testify at another hearing on the Justice Department budget that's sure to be filled with more swirling questions over special counsel Robert Mueller's report.Barr is appearing before a Senate Appropriations subcommittee one day after he testified before a House subcommittee and answered many -- though not all -- questions from lawmakers about the release of Mueller's nearly 400 page report.At the House hearing, Barr said he expected to release a redacted version of the Mueller report within a week, with plans to color-code redactions and provide an explanation for why material was not released publicly.But Barr sparred with House Democrats who pressed him on why he would not release grand jury material or provide the full, unredacted Mueller report to Congress."I don't intend at this stage to send the full, unredacted report to the committee," Barr said, adding that wouldn't ask a court to release grand jury material "Until someone shows me a provision" that allows it to be released.In the House, Barr was squaring off with Democrats who have subpoena power and have already authorized a subpoena in the Judiciary Committee to obtain the full Mueller report and underlying evidence. Bob and Shirley Hansen were on a fishing trip when they woke up at 3 a.m. Monday to the sound of someone beating on the side of their boat.Bob looked over the side and saw five people in their underwear, he told CNN affiliate KEYT-TV. Then he saw another boat in the distance, fully engulfed in flames."Flames probably 30 feet high. It was totally gone," he said. The first thing he did was call the Coast Guard, he said.The 75-foot commercial diving boat, called the Conception, caught fire Labor Day off the coast of Santa Cruz Island in Southern California.The Hansens were able to rescue the five crew members who made their way to their boat. Eight people have been found dead so far, and 26 are missing.Shirley said some of the rescued crew members told them about the moments on the boat before the fire. One said that a 17-year-old girl on the Conception was celebrating her birthday with her parents, she said."It was such a hopeless, helpless feeling to watch that boat burn and know there were only five people at our boat and there was nothing we could do," she said.She also said the five people didn't have any form of communication on them -- no keys or phones -- and she hopes they get plenty of help.Bob told KEYT he doesn't feel he deserves to be called a hero."I was just a guy there in that place. ATLANTA, Ga. – The Centers for Disease Control said Tuesday that it appears inevitable that COVID-19 will spread in United States communities. Officials said it’s no longer a matter of if, but when. Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said during a conference call that the spread of the new coronavirus in countries other than China has officials concerned about outbreaks in the U.S. "Ultimately we expect we will see community spread in this country," said Messonier. "It’s not so much a question of if this will happen anymore, but rather more a question of exactly when this will happen and how many people in this country will have severe illness."The CDC says the agency is preparing to address the potential spread of the virus in the U.S. and it's encouraging Americans to begin planning as well. "We will maintain, for as long as practical, a dual approach where we continue measures to contain this disease, but also employ strategies to minimize the impact on our communities," said Messonier.Messonier said that officials don't know whether the spread of the disease in the U.S. would be mild or severe, but Americans should be ready for "significant disruptions" to their daily lives.“We are asking the American public to prepare for the expectation that this might be bad,” Messonnier said.If the virus begins to spread amongst Americans, the CDC says it will becomes increasingly important to implement basic precautions to prevent more infections. That includes staying home when ill and practicing respiratory and hand hygiene. Additionally, the CDC says community level intervention might include school dismissals and social distancing in other settings, like postponing or canceling large gatherings. Officials said it may become necessary for students and the workforce to meet over the internet, instead of in person.“For adults, businesses can replace in-person meetings with video or telephone conferences and increase teleworking options,” said Messonier. The virus is believed to have originated from Wuhan, China, where early patients had some link to a large seafood and live animal markets. The CDC says more than 2,400 people have died from COVID-19 worldwide, with a majority of the deaths in mainland China. However, other countries are now battling sizable outbreaks as well. Europe’s biggest outbreak is in Italy, where more than 280 people have reportedly been infected. Iran has reported at least 95 cases. And, South Korea has more than 970 cases. As of Tuesday, the CDC had confirmed 14 cases in the U.S., 12 being travel-related and two from person-to-person spread. A total of 43 cases have been confirmed in the group of people repatriated to the U.S. from either Wuhan or the Diamond Princess cruise ship off the coast of Japan, the CDC says.
