(KGTV) -- The state’s Department of Motor Vehicles is reopening its remaining field offices that were shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.Starting Thursday, June 11, 169 DMV locations across California will reopen for customers that have appointments and provide service for limited transactions that require an in-person visit.DMV field offices were closed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic but select locations around the state began reopening in May with limited service.Although field offices will reopen, many services -- including behind-the-wheel drive tests – are not available for the time being. Officials said behind-the-wheel testing will return in the coming weeks.DMV officials are urging customers to continue “to use its online services, expanded virtual services and other service channels to complete transactions, including eligible driver license and vehicle registration renewals.”Among the limited services being offered at field offices:Paying registration for an impounded vehicle due to registration-related issuesReinstating a suspended or revoked river licensepplying for a reduced-fee or no-fee identification cardProcessing commercial driver license transactionsApplying for a disabled person parking placardsAdding ambulance certificate or firefighter endorsement to a driver licenseVerifying transit training document to drive transit busProcess DMV express customers for REAL ID transactions, if time and space allowVehicle verificationsDMV officials said the department is rescheduling any appointments that were canceled during the closure and notifying customers of new appointment dates.At each field office, employees will be wearing face coverings, practicing physical distancing protocols, and will have access to disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, field shields, gloves, and soap and water.All customers will be required to wear a face covering and remain at least six feet apart from others when in line. Officials said, “Customers are offered a text message that will allow them to wait outside the building until notified they are ready to be served. (KGTV) - People who live and work around Carmel Mountain are having their patience tested by a road work project.San Diego Public Works began laying new asphalt on a two-mile stretch of Rancho Carmel Drive on Monday this week and so far it’s been three days of congestion for those who have to drive through the area.“This is insane,” said one driver who had been waiting for over an hour on connecting to go a few blocks.Several people told 10News they had been in traffic for up to two hours in a quarter-mile span because of the road work.In a statement SDPW wrote:In response to the increase in traffic, we have sent one of our traffic engineers to the site to assess how the traffic control can be improved to reduce the traffic impacts of the work. We want to apologize to all those that were impacted by the traffic. We expect that this particular stretch of work should be completed today, and the remainder of the paving work on Rancho Carmel Dr. should be done within a week or two, with final striping to follow.SDPW says crews will work 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and they plan to have the Rancho Carmel Dr. project done by April 20. 1183

(KGTV) — When Petco says "all leashed pets" they truly mean ALL leashed pets.Texan rancher Vincent Browning and Shelly Lumpkin tried to test that policy this month when they walked their African Watusi steer into a Houston-area Petco location.Just as the policy stated, they were welcomed in with open arms."At Petco, everything is guided by our vision for healthier pets, happier people and a better world," Jonathan Williamson, Petco vice president of animal care, education and merchandising, said in a release. "We’re proud to celebrate the human-animal bond by welcoming all domesticated companion animals to our stores. We’re so glad that our guests and store partners got to experience this fun and happy moment with Oliver, the African Watusi, because that’s what Petco is all about."Video showed the steer being led into the store, before employees greeted the animal and Browning and posed for photos.The company's policy is designed to protect animals and customers and covers "properly-leashed domesticated companion animals." 1046

The military families had completed entries to win one free home rooftop solar system from the company. Little did they know, Palomar Solar planned to surprise three applicants.
