(KGTV) - The Rugby team at MiraCosta College has qualified for the National Championships in Pittsburgh.The Spartans Rugby program is in its first full competitive season, and due to the lack of Junior College teams in Southern California, they play a schedule that consists of NCAA 4-year schools.The MiraCosta Rugby team is made up of around 40 players, many of whom have backgrounds in football and wrestling.The team doesn't lack for experience, as a few players have been playing for over 10 years, like Ian Crilly, who says he's pleased with the team's progression."I've been playing for about 12 years now, so it was a little rough with these first year players. Trying to get them up to speed but we got there," said Crilly.The Spartans begin play in the National Championships on April 21, and win or lose, they feel all there success this season has put the school on the map for athletics. Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon has pulled out of a job as a correspondent for NBC at the Winter Games in South Korea.News broke earlier Sunday that Rippon, one of the first openly gay U.S. athletes to compete at the Olympics, was being hired to work on TV, digital and social media for NBC for the remainder of the Games in Pyeongchang.NBC tweeted out the news Sunday morning, welcoming the 28-year-old bronze medalist to its team.But Rippon said hours later that although he was "so flattered" by NBC's offer, he decided against the move because it would mean leaving his U.S. teammates and the Olympic Village."It's so important to me, you know, I worked so hard to be on this Olympic team, and my teammates and my friends were there for me during my events, and that meant so much to me, that I really feel like I need to be there for them during their events," he said on NBCSN.NBC's article online about Rippon becoming one of its correspondents now redirects readers to his Olympic profile page.Rippon later suggested he only learned about the network's plans to hire him from social media."I actually found everything out about the offer via twitter HAHA," he tweeted. (CNS) - A 23-year-old man was behind bars Friday on suspicion of using a pellet gun to break the window of an Oceanside business that had put up a sign supporting the Black Lives Matter movement, police said.Steve Soto, 23, of Carlsbad allegedly drove by Bliss Tea & Treats, 301 Mission Ave., around 7:10 p.m. on June 4, then fired a pellet gun out the window of his vehicle, shattering a window at the business and causing more than ,800 in damage, Oceanside police Sgt. John McKean said.The business had a sign in the window at the time that read: "Black owned, we stand with you," McKean said.Surveillance video helped detectives identify the vehicle used in the crime and Soto, who was arrested Wednesday evening at an undisclosed location, the sergeant said.Soto was booked into the Vista Detention Facility around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday on suspicion of vandalism, attempting to dissuade a victim or witness from testifying and assault with a deadly weapon, according to jail records.The assault allegation stems from an incident during which Soto is accused of shooting a disabled man in the face with a pellet gun, McKean said.Soto was being held in lieu of ,000 bail pending arraignment, scheduled for July 31. 1250

By the time the gunfire stopped, 12 people were dead."I was in panic mode since Wednesday night -- since that phone call -- and stress levels were off the charts," Carmen Edman said.The Edman family got to safety, but their Malibu home burned to the ground."Two-near death experiences that you just don't expect," Deseriee Edman said."I'm trying to stay as strong as possible for my family and friends, and I'm trying to look at everything as positively as possible even though it's pretty hard to do so in these type of situations," she told the affiliate.The Edmans credit Ventura County Sheriff's Sgt.
