WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court is rejecting an appeal from environmental groups trying to stop President Donald Trump from building a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border, even as other legal action against the wall is ongoing. The justices on Monday left in place a ruling by a federal judge in San Diego who rejected challenges claiming that the Trump administration improperly waived laws requiring environmental and other reviews before construction can begin. The judge in the San Diego case was Gonzalo Curiel. Trump criticized Curiel during the presidential campaign for his handling of fraud allegations against now-defunct Trump University. Trump had already proposed a border wall and suggested the Indiana-born judge's Mexican heritage meant he wouldn't be fair to Trump in the fraud lawsuit. 808

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A powerful memorial in Washington D.C. honored the more than 210,000 Americans who have lost their lives to COVID-19.The group COVID Survivors for Change organized the memorial, which featured 20,000 empty chairs on the lawn across from the White House. Each seat represented less than a tenth of those killed by the coronavirus in the U.S.The founder of the group, Chris Kocher, told CNN that organizers wanted to bring attention to the sheer size of the loss six months into the pandemic and highlight the country’s “lack of acknowledgment.”The event was held on Sunday, which the group declared a National Day of Remembrance.During the event, attendees listened to stories of people who have lost loved ones to the coronavirus. Grammy Award-winner and former U.S. Ambassador for Health Dionne Warwick hosted.“The loss of lives has grown daily, leaving us all directly or indirectly affected by this disease,” Warwick said. “It takes all of us to raise our voices — we know we can’t always rely on the folks in charge to hear us unless we say it loudly and clearly.”Organizers and speakers hope the event encourages lawmakers to develop a national plan for safety and recovery, CBS News reports. The event was organized before President Donald Trump was diagnosed with COVID-19 himself. He and several others have tested positive after attending the announcement ceremony for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett. 1444

We all know exercise is great for your health, but a new study shows that there is one type of exercise that will improve your mental health the most. A new study by the Journal of Lancet Psychiatry found that group fitness classes helps with your overall mental health, more than solo exercises.  Thomas Obershaw not only takes group fitness classes, but he also teaches them. He goes to Transform Colorado to take their Lagree Fitness classes. He not only gets a killer workout in, but he says a group setting gives him the motivation to put in the hard work. "I love group fitness so much, because I do believe there is power in numbers," says Obershaw.Life can be stressful. Work can get in the way of a lot of things, including spending time with people. That's one of the reasons Obershaw loves to workout with others, because he doesn't want to feel isolated. "When you show up to a group fitness class, and you see everyone around you struggling, you don't feel alone," says Obershaw. The recent study also found those who exercise between 30 to 60 minutes a day have the best mental health. "When you show up and get to release all this stress and strife of everyday life, that's in your head, this monkey brain you have all day," says Obershaw. "When you get to forget about that for 45 minutes, it does something to you chemically and physically." The study also found those who participated in group activities had one less poor mental health day a month and felt a 43 percent improvement mentally. If you're looking to get the most out of your group exercise, team sports were rated number one for having the most mental health benefits. Another, popular group fitness class is cycling. They say the high intensity cardio mixed with motivation also gave great results. "It's easy to stay in bed, lay in bed, but exercise releases endorphins," Obershaw says. "It's science; when you release those endorphins that's great for your mind and it's great for your psyche." Whether you enjoy group fitness or not, it is scientifically proven the more you exercise, the greater the benefit.  2203

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KGTV) - President Trump addressed questions Tuesday about a possible closure of the U.S.-Mexico border, saying “I’m totally prepared to do it.” Speaking at a White House news conference, Trump called on Congress to make a deal and the Mexican government to stop immigrants from entering Mexico. Trump suggested Mexico had stepped up its efforts to keep Central American migrants from moving north in the past two days. The president also demanded change in what he described as "the worst, dumbest immigration system in the world."“We need to get rid of chain migration, we need to get rid of catch and release, and visa lottery, and we have to do something about asylum, and to be honest with you, we have to get rid of judges,” said Trump. Closing the border would have a severe impact to the U.S. economy, especially in border cities like San Diego. The flow of goods, including avocados and cars, would be disrupted, along with manufacturing supply lines. The Council of Economic Advisers was conducting studies on the potential impact of a border closure and "working with the president to give him those options," said White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders. When asked about the economic impact of a border shutdown, Trump said, “To me trading is very important the borders are very important but security is what - the most important.” Trump also left open the possibility of closing sections of the southern border instead of the entire border. There was no immediate word on which areas would be affected. The president is scheduled to visit the southwestern U.S. Friday, including Calexico.Watch Trump's news conference:The Associated Press contributed to this report. 1704

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has passed up several challenges to state and federal gun control laws, over the dissent of two conservative justices. Gun rights advocates had hoped the court would expand the constitutional right to "keep and bear arms" beyond the home.Instead, the justices on Monday left in place restrictions on the right to carry weapons in public in Maryland, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. The justices also declined to review Massachusetts' ban on some semi-automatic firearms and large-capacity ammunition magazines, a California handgun control law and a half-century-old federal law banning interstate handgun sales. 654
