(KGTV) -- NBA star Kawhi Leonard is suing Nike, claiming the sportswear company committed fraud by claiming ownership of a logo he created. According to the lawsuit, the logo included his hand, the initials “KL” and the number 2, which he wore for much of his career. As part of an endorsement deal with Nike, Leonard allowed the company to use the logo on certain merchandise while he continued to use the logo on non-Nike goods. The lawsuit also claims that, without Leonard’s consent, Nike filed an application for copyright registration of his logo and “falsely represented in the application that Nike had authored the logo.”As part of the lawsuit, Leonard is seeking a “declaratory judgment of non-infringement and that Leonard is the author of the logo and Nike, in registering for the copyright of Leonard’s logo, committed fraud on the Copyright Office.”Leonard played for the San Diego State Aztecs and is currently a forward for the Toronto Raptors. 969

In this story that is Positively San Diego we meet an east county woman who has used that stitch countless times to spread warmth to those who need it the most."By the way, I'm knitting as you're talking to me," said Spring Valley resident Karen De Vos as our Zoom interview got underway.I responded, "I love it!"As she began to list the many places where knitting comes naturally to her, "When I'm watching TV, when I'm in the car, if I'm in a doctor's office, or if I'm in a movie theatre."De Vos said she learned the craft when she was 9 from her mother. And over the years she's created keepsakes like Christmas stockings for family and friends."Then the Santa Claus on one side," said De Vos, showing off one of her stockings, "And then the reindeer and then the trees and then comes the foot."De Vos enjoyed the creativity, but it took on new meaning in the early '90s when a charity drive asked her to knit hats to help the homeless stay warm."In the last three years we all know homelessness has become a terrific problem," says Devos, so, as the years have gone on since I've been knitting, I sort of felt maybe I was doing a better calling then I had ever done before."For some 30 years now, de Vos has been knitting 60-plus hats a year for those in need, sticking with the same pattern while mixing up the colors. And as she points out, they're very stretchy, so one size fits all. She dons one of the hats to make the point."Some people like to wear the flap all the way down, but I think it looks cuter with the flap up."The former middle school teacher and librarian says it's her way of giving back. Her hats go to Father Joe's Villages and the "Voices of our City Choir," famed for showcasing the singing of San Diego's unsheltered."When you get to be my age there aren't too many active things you can go out and do, you know, for charity purposes. But at least I can sit without any movement or anything and create something that will go for good," De Vos said.And as she has knitted some 2,000 hats and continues to knit through this interview, she mentions, "I even can knit when I'm reading too."Karen De Vos lives with her husband of more than 60-years at a senior living community in Spring Valley. She says he's very supportive. (KGTV) - While Amazon customers have it fairly easy when it comes to returning items, the tech giant is only willing to go so far.Some Amazon customers have received emails notifying them they have been banned and cannot create a new account due to the number of returns they have made, according to the Wall Street Journal.Former Amazon managers told the WSJ they close accounts over activities including "requesting too many refunds" or "sending back the wrong items or violating other rules.""We have closed this account because you have consistently returned a large number of your orders. While we expect the occasional problem with an order, we cannot continue to accept returns at this rate," a 2015 email to an Amazon customer read.Others told the paper that Amazon asked them about their returns, despite providing a reason previously on the website. Some said they were not notified of the reasoning behind their canceled account until they reached out to a customer service representative.Amazon has yet to issue a statement regarding how it handles frequent returns. 1086

(KGTV) - The California Justice Department does not verify the validity of hunting licenses for people under 21 who are applying to buy firearms, instead saying that’s the responsibility of individual gun shops. That information could shed light on how Poway synagogue shooting suspect John Earnest was able to buy his gun at 19 with an invalid hunting license. Earnest picked up the AR-15 style weapon from San Diego Guns on April 26, the day before the alleged attack. His hunting license was not going to become valid until July 1, 2019, according to state Fish and Wildlife. A woman who answered the phone at San Diego Guns Friday said the store would have no comment. Earlier this week, a different employee told 10News, “We did everything properly. We did everything we needed.” Senate Bill 1100 went into effect this year, requiring anyone under 21 buying a rifle to be law enforcement, military, or have a valid, state-issued hunting license. The Justice Department, however, says gun shops must verify the hunting license before they allow the customer to fill out the state online application. That application leads to a 10-day background check that checks a variety of categories - hunting licenses not listed. "Dealers are currently responsible for determining whether an exemption would apply under Senate Bill 1100 at the point of purchase. The 10-day waiting period, among other things, is to check if an individual is prohibited by state or federal law from owning or possessing a firearm," a DOJ spokesperson said in a statement. Earnest is accused of killing Chabad of Poway worshipper Lori Kaye and injuring three others in the April 27 attack. “He was not 21, so I knew from the beginning there is something fishy here with that gun,” said Israel Dahan, whose daughter Noya was hit by shrapnel and will soon have surgery on her upper cheek. “To be honest with you, what’s the difference?
