The City of San Diego had a system in place to warn-water meter readers of inaccurate or questionable reads on manually read meters.But somehow more than 300 residents in four neighborhoods - Rancho Bernardo, Mira Mesa, Rancho Penasquitos, and Carmel Valley - were still overcharged by an average 0 on recent bills. Workers use a handheld electronic device to enter the readings, and get a warning if the numbers don't fall inline with that meter's use from the last billing cycle, said Steven Broyles, a city meter reader of about 18 years. "Based on the pervious use 60 days ago, it was inline," Broyles said after measuring a home in Rancho Bernardo. "So it didn't throw me a failed audit."Workers, however, are able to override the warning and enter the reading.If that happens, the city says the meter's data gets kicked into the city's quality assurance process - a process that could have uncovered the pattern of errors in those four neighborhoods. The city terminated the employee who made the errors that lead to the 300 erroneous bills. A city spokesman, however, declined to comment on whether the system lead to the discovery. The city auditory, meanwhile, is continuing a top-down probe into the water billing department. The FBI raided Michael Cohen's office on Monday, the personal lawyer to President Donald Trump who allegedly oversaw a 0,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in the days leading up to the 2016 election, the New York Times reported. According to the Times, Special Counsel Robert Mueller issued a referral for the raid, although the search does not appear to be directly related to his ongoing investigation of Russian meddling and possible coordination with the Trump campaign during the 2016 election. The Times report does indicate, however, that the raid stemmed from information Mueller uncovered and gave to prosecutors.In order to secure a raid, Mueller went to US Attorney Geoffrey Berman, who was appointed in January. Berman took the information to a federal judge, who green lighted the raid. Berman replaced acting US Attorney Joon Kim, who replaced Preet Bharara. Bharara was fired by Trump after he refused to resign when Trump demanded that all US Attorneys who worked under President Barack Obama to step down. Despite Berman being a Trump appointee, the President said the investigation is a "witch hunt.""I have this witch hunt constantly going on, it is a real disgrace," Trump said. The Confederate-themed Mississippi flag is drawing criticism from two big forces in the culturally conservative state. Walmart says it will no longer display the state flag because it includes the Confederate battle emblem. Displaying state flags inside stores is a common practice. “We know the design of the Mississippi state flag is being discussed by various stakeholders. While the issue continues to be discussed, we’ve made the decision to remove the Mississippi state flag from display in its current form from our stores," Walmart spokesperson Anne Hatfield said in an email statement.“We believe it’s the right thing to do, and is consistent with Walmart’s position to not sell merchandise with the confederate flag from stores and online sites, as part of our commitment to provide a welcoming and inclusive experience for all of our customers in the communities we serve," Hatfield continued. The Mississippi Baptist Convention is calling on lawmakers to remove the Confederate symbol from the flag because many people are “hurt and shamed” by it. The governing body for college athletics and other influential groups are calling for Mississippi to change its flag. Republican Gov.
