SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Snoopy’s San Diego Comic-Con pop-up store is celebrating the Peanuts gang’s history with NASA and the Apollo 10 mission. In 1969, Apollo 10 used a lunar module to “snoop around” the moon’s surface in advance of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The crew named the module “Snoopy” and the command module “Charlie Brown”. As Gene Cernan, Apollo 10's Lunar Module Pilot once said, "No one remembers Apollo 10—until you tell them our spacecrafts were named Snoopy and Charlie Brown, and they say 'Oh! I remember!' " To honor the 50th anniversary, Oscar-winning director Morgan Neville created “Peanuts in Space: Secrets of Apollo 10”, a mockumentary demonstrating the ties between the beloved cartoons and the space agency. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Some former students of Brightwood College finally have something to celebrate after their school shut down earlier this month.Town & Country San Diego Mission Valley, where the graduation was scheduled to held, will now host the ceremony free of charge.Karlene Carpenter is one of those students looking forward to the graduation ceremony. She spent countless hours with her classmates, studying and preparing for the next phase of their lives. "The curiculum was amazing. This happened a few days before Carpenter was scheduled to finish the program. Teachers stepped in to help. Carpenter said some clinical instructors worked for free to help them finish. At first, it looked like the graduation ceremony scheduled for January 18th at Town & Country San Diego in Mission Valley was not going to happen since the school was out of business."We still had the date booked, but there was no way to pay for it," Carpenter said. "I went to school a little later in life. You want to walk across that stage, you want to wear your cap and gown, you want to participate in the pinning ceremony inducting you into nursing."Then came a little holiday cheer thanks to Santa's helpers, in the form of Town & Country staff. "We have extended to them a complimentary graduation. Everyone in their families can see them and just really enjoy what they worked so hard for," said Susan Penman, director of sales and marketing at the facility. From stressful classes to a sudden college shutdown, it was the news Carpenter was more than happy to hear. "Thank you from the bottom of my heart. My entire class and all of these students are just elated. It was basically a Christmas miracle," she said. 1988

Park officials issued a statement on Monday to announce the March 10 closure due to “possible periods of significant rain and high winds.”Park officials say they anticipate opening again on Wednesday, March 11. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Saturday, San Diego County reported a record 1,478 new coronavirus cases and six additional deaths, bringing the county's totals to 70,709 cases and 966 fatalities.Saturday's new cases yielded a 7% positivity rate out of 21,947 tests reported. The new daily case report marks the third time in a week that the county has reported more than 1,000 new cases. It was also the 11th-straight day the county reported at least 600 new cases.Eleven new community outbreaks were also confirmed on Friday: Three in business settings, three in faith-based settings, two in childcare settings, one in a TK-12 school setting, one in a restaurant/bar setting, and one in a gym setting. A community outbreak is three or more COVID-19 cases in a setting and in people of different households over the last two weeks.County businesses saw purple tier restrictions go into effect on Saturday, further limiting reopening of the county due to the surge in coronavirus cases seen over the last couple of weeks.California's limited stay-at-home order is also set to begin Saturday night, limiting non-essential businesses between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for one month in counties under the state's purple tier.County public health officials are worried that fatigue is setting in on San Diegans and urged residents to avoid large gatherings this week for Thanksgiving,"The virus is widespread and every element of our community is impacted," said Dr. Wilma Wooten, the county's public health officer. "Emperor", named after the biggest species of penguin, which can be seen at the park's popular "Penguin Encounter" attraction."It will be the tallest, fastest, longest, and the only floorless dive coaster in the state of California and the entire west coast of North America," said Senior Vice President of Attractions Mike Denninger.RELATED: SeaWorld's new dive coaster will be named 'Emperor'The ride reaches 153 feet at its tallest point, tops 60 miles per hour, and includes multiple inversions. The centerpiece of the ride, however, is the 90-degree, straight down drop.
