In fact, the study found U.S. workers wasted a record-setting 658 million vacation days.There's proof that those vacation days can do the mind and body some good.A group of doctors found that people who did take days off to do things they enjoyed had better blood pressure levels, lower stress levels and had an improved body mass index. They were also less likely to be depressed or feel negative.All these effects were seen in people who took at least one week of vacation per year.Experts also say it's not about quantity, but about quality.So, if you can't take an entire week off from work, no worries! Just make the time off worth it by doing things you actually enjoy and spending it with people you like.Another benefit-- the same study says people who take more time off are more likely to get a promotion or a raise. The amount of time people take off differs from state to state. Workers in Idaho are leaving their vacation time on the table. According to a new report from Wallet Hub, Alaska is the hardest working state, while people in Michigan take it the easiest. 1274

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — More changes could be coming to the "free drink" system in Las Vegas casinos.There is special technology on table-top machines, such as video poker, that monitors when you earn a comped drink. Now, gamblers may see it on slot machines, too.Ardent Progressive Systems and Games has already installed its technology on about 90 slot machines at The Riverside Resort in Laughlin.It's considered a trial run for a couple months to see how it goes."The hope now is, the trial down in Laughlin will be successful and then we've got several properties that are waiting to see the results of that and possibly implementing it in the near future up here in Las Vegas," said Albert Tabola with Ardent Progressive Systems and Games.The technology is a strip of LED lights that faces you while you play. Red means you're not ready for a drink. Green means you are ready for a drink. Yellow means you're getting close to qualifying for a drink. Orange means you're playing too slowly and falling off track."You will know as you play whether you qualify for a complimentary drink or not, as will the cocktail waitress," Tabola said.Players do not have to play max bet to qualify for a drink. They ust need to consistently play."The qualification levels on there are very, very low so this should not affect anybody that plays for the most part, at all," he said. LAS VEGAS — A Las Vegas family is living in fear after two men broke in while their teenage daughter hid in a bedroom closet.17-year-old Maxeen is still shook up after what happened inside her home near Cactus and Interstate 15 on Saturday.“It sucks to just be alone and I’ve never been in a situation like that,” she said.Maxeen said she was home alone Saturday when someone started ringing the doorbell repeatedly around 2:30 p.m.Maxeen felt something was wrong, and that’s when she says a man showed up in the backyard breaking in through the sliding glass door.“I tried to call my mom but she was at work, so I kind of ran upstairs and I knew he was going to come to the back,” the teen said.Maxeen dialed 911 and hid in one of the closets in a bedroom.The home’s interior surveillance camera shows two men running up the stairs where Maxeen was hiding.Maxeen’s mom is thankful her daughter is OK, but says this frightening ordeal has hit the entire family.“We’re very disturbed right now,” Maxeen's mother, Barbara, said. “It feels like it’s not real, but it is. So we got affected by it and everyone is so scared.”The family said the burglars actually left their getaway ride outside the home when they left.They took a picture of it and hope that vehicle will lead police to the two.  1309

LAKE MURRAY (CNS) - A 48-year-old man was taken to a hospital with multiple major fractures after hitting a Subaru WXR on the 5000 block of Campanile Drive, authorities said today.A 20-year-old behind the wheel of the car pulled out of an alley in front of the 2011 Kawasaki motorcycle, at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, while trying to drive north, according to Officer Robert Heims, with the San Diego Police Department.The motorcyclist was westbound on Montezuma Road and made a left turn southbound onto Campanile Drive, where the biker hit the car, Heims said.The driver of the Subaru had no injuries. San Diego Police Traffic Division is now investigating. 659
