A woman claims she suffered a small cut on her finger from the nail salon she's been going to for more than a decade. Two weeks later, she found herself in the hospital having surgery due to a major infection, and there's a chance she may have to have her finger amputated. The image of Maria Luisa Gerardo's finger is extremely graphic — a wound that goes all the way down to the bone. "I cover my face when they come in here and take (the bandage) off because I don't wanna see it," said Gerardo. "I don't. I'm scared."Gerardo made her regular visit to TJ Nails, a place she's been going to for more than a decade, where they call her "Mama." But two weeks ago she claims she received a small cut on her finger. "A little open wound, here on the side of my finger," said Gerardo.A day later, her finger started swelling. Gerardo went to Urgent Care, where they put her on antibiotics.She went back to the nail salon, and she says they offered her 0."He told me, 'It's nothing. Just clean your hand and buy your medicine, and it will come off," said Gerardo. But it only got worse, and Gerardo had to go into surgery."Pretty excruciating to see," said Gerardo's son Victor. "I don't like to see my mom in pain."Victor was by his mom's side during the surgery and days following. "He cleaned as much as he could, to try and salvage the finger," said Victor. "He told me, he kept cutting and cutting the tissue around her finger until it bled, because that was good skin."Gerardo says a man named Bill was the technician who cut her nails that day. Employees at TJ Nails claim he no longer works at the salon and recently moved out of state.Bill said in a phone interview that he never cut Gerardo's nails and he knew her very well and did nothing wrong. Meantime, Gerardo is looking for answers and waiting to see if she will be able to keep her finger. "This is the only thing I ever liked doing to myself, my nails," said Gerardo. "But now, with this that happened to my hand, I never want to do this in my life."The family reported TJ Nails to the state. Actor Chadwick Boseman, who played Black icons Jackie Robinson and James Brown before finding fame as the regal Black Panther in the Marvel movies, has died of cancer.His representative says Boseman died Friday in Los Angeles after a four-year battle with colon cancer. He was 43. Boseman died at his home in the Los Angeles area with his wife and family by his side, his publicist Nicki Fioravante told The Associated Press. ALPINE, Calif. (KGTV) - One year after the West Fire scorched Alpine, residents are rebuilding.In total, the blaze burned 505 acres and destroyed 34 homes and 22 other buildings, including a commercial structure.Driving through Alpine Saturday, you could see the different levels of recovery. Some homes were a blank concrete foundation with a chimney, others were wooden frames, or brand new structures with scaffolding around the unfinished, black exterior.Lisa Campbell is on the site of her in-laws' property, Campbell Creek Ranch, every week overseeing the rebuild. "You realize how complicated recovery from something like this is," she said referring to the complications with insurance policies and permitting.On the ranch progress is visible. She walked 10News through the property, pointing out a brand new white fence lining the driveway, a freshly laid concrete bridge with black metal rails, much sturdier than the large wooden log bridge before it. Her smile grew as she reached the patio where numerous fond family memories were created. The pool looked like it was ready to be filled with water and enjoyed, lined with new plaster and luminescent tiles. Clay colored tiles created a patio for lounging poolside."The pool that they used to play in, that's coming back so that's nice to see," she said nostalgically.The hope in pipe, planks and plaster fueling the family forward."The fire and the recovery has impacted some of his decision to study Forestry," she said. "I think it's one of the best things to come out of this, is just him thinking about what he wants to do with his life." They returned Saturday afternoon from a college scouting trip. Her son Colin wants to help others through the same tragedy he faced, and is still coping with. He explained just this week he had to rethink where the family was going to watch the Women's World Cup, "soon enough I think about this [house] and I got a little emotional at the time but I've kinda coped but it still comes back every once in a while."The whole family saying they're adjusting to a new normal, thankful for the continued support from the community and encouraging San Diegans to remember their neighbors in Alpine."It's really important not to forget they're in the process of recovery," she said.Lisa said more than 0,000 were raised to help families recover in Alpine. But at his core, Deadpool is still the death-dealing court jester that comic book fans have adored for decades.From the outset, the indestructible, motormouthed mercenary declares that despite the bombardment of dirty jokes, this is indeed a "family film," which itself is a joke that lays the groundwork for laughs to come later on. That's the genetic makeup of "Deadpool 2," which boasts mutant powers for eliciting abs-shredding laughter. If you can't handle dirty jokes, stay far, far away. But for everyone else, take a cannonball jump into this Deadpool.
