SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – At least 10 people were arrested during demonstrations in downtown San Diego Wednesday night that were sparked by the grand jury decision in the Breonna Taylor case.ABC 10News learned there were initially two separate protests planned in the downtown area. Eventually, the two groups joined together.Protesters marched through downtown chanting and holding signs demanding justice for Taylor. The demonstration made its way to San Diego Police Department headquarters on Broadway.Shortly after 10 p.m., SDPD tweeted that there were acts of violence and vandalism and declared the protest outside headquarters “an unlawful assembly.”According to the tweet, the crowd was ordered to disperse or face arrest. The warrant used to search her home was connected to a suspect who did not live there, and no drugs were found inside.A grand jury in Louisville on Wednesday decided that no officers will face charges for Taylor's death.Prosecutors argued the two officers who fired at Taylor were justified in using force to protect themselves after they were shot at by Taylor's boyfriend.The officer who fired the fatal shot and another officer who fired his weapon at Taylor face no charges, but former Louisville Metro Police Department Detective Brett Hankison was indicted with three counts of wanton endangerment for firing shots that went through Taylor's apartment and into an adjoining unit.City News Service contributed to this report 2118

Class at the San Diego Civic Youth Ballet School in Balboa Park, dance is their escape.“I just love it cause it like brings me joy and it can take me to my happy place,” said Renata Scorza-Muniz.Renata has been taking regular ballet classes since she was 2 years old. But in February, her life changed.“It’s stressful, I guess, to be in the hospital,” said Renata.Renata was diagnosed with cancer, causing her to lose her vision and forcing her out of her regular ballet class.That’s when she turned to a class called Ballet for Me.“It’s just so fun to do,” said Renata.Ballet for Me is a tuition-waved class that is designed for kids with unique physical needs. Each student in the class gets paired up with a mentor to help guide them through each movement.“It just makes me so happy when I get to see students feel happy and free in class,” said Kerri DeNies instructor and creator of the class.This dance class helps the kids feel whole again. And all year they rehearse for their moment to shine and perform in front of a packed audience where they feel a little more joy and beam with confidence. 1213

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Balboa Park is getting some new trees and, in turn, lending itself to a new brew.Friends of Balboa Park planted about 27 new trees in Balboa Park Friday in celebration of Arbor Day. The trees were placed in the grove on Park Blvd. and Morley Field Dr., across from the San Diego Zoo.The trees planted including six different varieties and are all perfect for San Diego's semi-arid climate."Friends is honored to have such strong support from our donors and corporate partners that enables us to continue making meaningful enhancements to the Park," John Bolthouse, Friends of Balboa Park executive director, said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- At least four people were stabbed in a brawl that erupted following a car show in Kearny Mesa early Thursday morning.San Diego police said the incident happened at a Chevron gas station in the 7700 block of Copley Park Place just after 12 a.m.According to police, about 50 people appeared at the gas station following a car show at a nearby park. During the gathering, a fight broke out, and a male pulled out a handgun and fired several gunshots.At the same time, another male used a knife to slash the tires of several vehicles and then tried to stab another male.When officers arrived at the gas station, those involved in the reported incident fled the area. Police discovered shell casings and blood at the scene.A short time later, police learned two people with stab wounds arrived at a Kaiser Permanente facility on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. Both victims were then transferred to Sharp Memorial Hospital for treatment.Police learned two more people with stab wounds showed up at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.According to police, the victims were between age 16-21. The victims described the suspect as a Hispanic male.No arrests have been made. 1190

These tickets went fast and we're unable to find more right now."Calls to season ticket lines and links on the team's website went unanswered and returned no results Tuesday. A note was also left on the team's office door at SDCCU Stadium reading, "We're closed for the remainder of the day."According to the team's general manager, Tuesday practice had been canceled, but no further statement on the league's reported decision was given.RELATED: Alliance of American Football to suspend operations immediately, reports sayThe Fleet, as well as the AAF's seven other teams, had played eight of 10 regular season games slated for the league's inaugural season.
