SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Six robbery suspects were arrested after reportedly assaulting a 14-year-old over a cell phone and leading police on a pursuit late Friday.A 14-year-old boy was walking in the 4400 block of Newport Avenue in Point Loma Heights when a Toyota Rav4 pulled alongside him just before 9:30 p.m., according to San Diego Police.Three suspects, one of whom was armed, got out and demanded the victim's cell phone at gunpoint, police said, before the armed suspect hit the boy over the head with the gun. The suspects then fled the area with the boy's cell phone.Police located the Toyota and tried to pull the vehicle over, prompting the suspects to lead police on a pursuit into the Lincoln Park area. Four juvenile and two adult suspects jumped out of the vehicle at Willie James Jones Ave. and tried to run but were all taken into custody after short foot pursuits, police said. 899

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Scripps Health revealed Tuesday plans for major new construction projects and buildings at its hospitals in San Diego County.The master plan includes flexible design spaces for evolving technology in patient rooms, operating rooms, laboratories and diagnostic centers, Scripps officials said.More care will be delivered on an outpatient basis at clinics and other facilities so Scripps can use acute care hospitals to care for the most seriously ill patients, said the company."This is our vision to build the health care system of the future - starting today," said Scripps president and CEO Chris van Gorder. "Our focus is on delivering the right care in the right setting that reflects the changing health care needs of the communities we serve across the San Diego region."The projects will be financed by operating revenues, borrowing and philanthropy, Scripps said.Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla:Construction includes a new seven-story, 401,000 square-foot hospital tower. It will feature a woman's health center, nursery, and neonatal ICU. The building should be finished in 2024.Scripps Mercy Chula Vista, Scripps Green Hospitals:The facilities will undergo seismic retrofitting. The work will start in 2022 in Chula Vista and 2027 at Scripps Green.Scripps Mercy San Diego:The campus will be the largest project for the health care system. The existing acute care building will be replaced with a new 710,000 square-foot 15-story tower. Most of the rooms will be private. The central energy plant will also be upgraded. Construction will start in 2022 and end in 2027.Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas:Plans include a new 185,000 square-foot three-story acute care building, a new medical office building, seismic retrofitting and energy plant upgrades. The work will be finished in 2024.Other projects:Construction includes two new Scripps MD Anderson outpatient cancer centers at Scripps Mercy San Diego and Scripps Radiation Therapy Center in La Jolla. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Siblings are frantically searching for their missing mother, after she walked out of Hospital Angeles in Tijuana Friday afternoon, according to her family.Jessica Puente, 73, accompanied her daughter, Johnica, for a surgery. When Johnica woke up, her mother was gone. "First thing I was like where's my mom, where's my mom? And they were like we don't know where she went," Johnica said.After questioning staff, a security monitor revealed Jessica walked out while speaking with the security guard at 11 a.m. Jessica asked the guard where to exchange money, Johnica said. She thinks her mom was going to find something to eat."We'll leave no stone unturned in Tijuana," her brother said Sunday night. He and their other brother flew into San Diego over the weekend, from their Seattle home, to help with the search."We tried to call the consulate but they're closed, we um called all these hospitals, we even went to the morgue, they went to the morgue this morning to see if there are any unidentified bodies," Johnica said they filed a police report with San Diego PD, passed out fliers in Mexico and have been using their connections to churches to spread the word.Johnica described her mother as shy, and says when she gets tired, she can get a little confused. She said her mother liked to dress up with flowers in her hair, jewelry, "her jacket and her shoes, she always liked to match, even though she's almost 73." Jessica is not only a mother of three, but grandmother to a little boy and girl, both under 10-years-old.When we asked how Johnica was able to stay so calm while talking about her mother's disappearance, she replied, "I don't know I just believe that she'll come up. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego's Maritime Museum is giving families the chance to spend the night on the seas — but stay in San Diego.The museum's "Family Overnight" program offers a stay aboard the Star of India, the oldest active sailing ship in the world. Families will embark on imaginary voyage learning about the lives and times of the India's passengers in the 19th century.Instructors will be in character and in costume, as they teach various ship-centric tasks like moving cargo and raising sails.
