OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Oceanside Wednesday afternoon. According to the Oceanside Police Department, the crash happened around 4:18 on State Route 76 at Old Grove. When officers arrived, they found the man lying in the street. He was taken to the hospital with a serious head injury. RELATED: Bicyclist killed in Escondido hit-and-run crashBased on statements from witnesses, police say they believe the vehicle entered the intersection on a green light. “The bicyclist also entered the intersection from another direction on a red light and collided with the SUV,” police said. Officials are looking for the suspect responsible for a deadly stabbing in Phoenix.Phoenix police responded to an alley near 15th and Missouri avenues at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday for a report of a stabbing. Officers were alerted to the incident after a passerby called 911 about a man stumbling in the roadway. When officers arrived on the scene they found 58-year-old Alfred Brown with multiple stab wounds. He told officers the suspect, a younger Hispanic male, was heavy set and wearing a white shirt. According to police, Brown was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries.Brown was a known homeless man who stayed in the area. He was last seen in the area earlier in the day with a Hispanic male who matches the suspect description.   789

On Tuesday, Casey Louviere was mowing her yard in Louisiana when she suddenly passed out from heat exhaustion."I started seeing stars, and suddenly everything was black," Louviere said.She says she thought she was fine, as she had been drinking water at the time."Just simply went outside to cut grass, it was so hot. You know, I was fine, then everything just turned black. The heat is not something to play with," Louviere explained.Officials with the Scott Fire Department say they responded to the call on Rue Bon Secours of a person unconscious in their front yard."SFD began assessing the patient and administering basic life support interventions. Acadian Ambulance medics arrived, and the patient was transported to a local hospital," a release states. But the firefighters didn't just help Louviere medically.The firefighters stayed with her children until a friend was able to come over. They also came back to finish mowing her lawn."Something like that brings tears to your eyes, knowing that there are still good people out there like that," she said. "They took time out of their day to cut my grass and they didn't have to do that.""We didn't have to do it. We didn't do it to get recognition by any means, but we wanted to bless her and bless her family. Her grass was high and we wanted to help her," Fire Captain Kris Gumpert said.However, Louviere says she did not know the job was finished until she saw it on Facebook."I'm working from home currently, so I didn't walk outside this morning. ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (KGTV) - When an earthquake strikes seconds of warning can save lives. That's why, for decades, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) has been working with partners to create a warning system to do just that. "Eventually we would like to have something like an Amber Alert where you would get a text message that says shaking is about to occur in your area in a few seconds," said Alex Cadiao, a USGS Field Engineer.He's part of a small team which travels to remote parts of the state to install earthquake sensors into the ground. They provided 10News exclusive access to the region's newest sensor in Orange County. RELATED: 'ShakeAlert' message buzzes San Diego County phones"Ultimately we just want a grid across the whole state," said Christopher Bruton, Research Engineer at Caltech's Seismological Laboratory. There are 45 sensors throughout San Diego County, and dozens more are planned for the rest of Southern California. "The more sensors we have, the better the data, the greater coverage we have and better the quality, and faster response time of these stations," said Cadiao. The sensors work by detecting the initial, less-destructive waves of an earthquake, alerting people shaking is coming and to take cover.Seconds of warning can be critical for surgeons in the operating room, halting trains, or shutting off gas lines. The City of Los Angeles currently has the ShakeAlert app available to people in the city; the hope is that technology will eventually work statewide. "I get a lot of gratification knowing one day this will help save a lot of lives," said Cadiao. The engineers say it will likely be a few more years until all of Southern California will get ShakeAlert warnings on their cell phones.
