(KGTV) — A bill that aims to end the retail sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits in California is heading to the state Senate.Assembly Bill 2152, known as "Bella’s Act," would prohibit the retail sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits, but still allow stores to partner with rescues and shelters for adoption events. The bill also stops pet stores from receiving any money from adoption transactions or from using the store or its resources in connection with adoption events.Assemblymember Todd Gloria, who introduced Bella's Act in February, said the bill is meant to crack down on those who got around the first attempt by the state."When we have animals in California who are still being bred and raised in unhealthy and inhumane conditions for profit, we cannot turn a blind eye," Gloria said in a release earlier this year. "Bella’s Act will fulfill our promise to end the inhumane puppy mill industry by officially prohibiting the retail sale of dogs, cats, and rabbits in California and encouraging pet retailers to partner with rescue groups and shelters. Jacobs is the granddaughter of Qualcomm co-founder Irwin Jacobs. She was a policy advisor to Hillary Clinton during her bid for the presidency in 2016.Jacobs supports Medicare for all, gun reform, and repealing tax cuts and jobs act.Georgette Gomez serves as a San Diego councilwoman serving the 9th District. (KGTV) — A high-speed pursuit in the Los Angeles area turned into a manhunt after a group of men abandoned their car and fled together on foot.Police were in pursuit of possible armed robbery suspects on the westbound 134 Freeway Friday shortly after 4 p.m., according to ABC-affiliate KABC. The vehicle hit speeds of more than 100 mph before heading onto surface streets in North Hollywood.The vehicle then led police onto the southbound 170 Freeway and the southbound 101 Freeway in Universal City, before five men exited the vehicle and fled into a residential area on foot, KABC reports.Police combed and locked down the neighborhood for nearly three hours, eventually arresting four of the five suspects around 8:30 p.m. K9 officers were used to track the men down, two of them were bit severely enough to be sent to the hospital, KABC reported.
