SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 28-year-old man has been arrested after police say he set fire to a Chula Vista pro-rent control office.According to Chula Vista Police, Christopher Treyvoun Jenkins was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges, including burglary and arson.On Friday, Police responded to a burglary alarm at the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment.When they arrived, officers noticed a large plume of smoke coming from the suite. The Chula Vista Fire Department arrived and extinguished the flames. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A College Area homeowner got a huge shock when he returned home from a camping trip: The presence of some uninvited guests.Bill Yogerst left Saturday at 12 p.m. from his home on Catoctin Drive. On Monday morning, he got a call from his roommate, who had also been out of town, telling him the grates on the outside of the granny flat had been damaged.     Inside the house, there was one disturbing discovery after another.    "There was a trail of dirt in the shower. They had urinated on the toilet. He also found shoes and some sweatpants in his hamper that didn't belong to him. Also throughout the house were odd shrines of carefully positioned, mismatched household objects."That is skin-crawling creepy," said Yogerst.The feeling didn't go away when he reached the bedroom."I looked at my bed and it wasn't made. Sheets were pulled down and the pillows rearranged and stacked ... realized they were sleeping in my bed ... a creepy feeling of violation," said Yogerst.The intruders in this twisted Goldilocks tale: A homeless couple in their 20s. Neighbors spotted them in the driveway on Sunday. Yogerst says they found his hidden spare key and walked right in."It was like a Holiday Inn. They were enjoying their stay," said Yogerst.Yogerst says the presence of homeless in the area has increased in the past two years."Some of the churches, God bless them, do feed them, but that does bring them in," said Yogerst.Yogerst says only a few items were taken, including loose change, toiletries, and prescription medication. One of the suspects has a distinct description: A transient African-American woman, about 5-foot 5-inches tall, with bright orange hair. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - "81 percent of people get a mild form of this disease; I'm one of them," says Dr. Eileen Natuzzi. The Encinitas surgeon is still a bit weary after 16 days of self-quarantine from coronavirus symptoms. She retired in November after 25 years as an acute care surgeon but spends her time now in the Solomon Islands volunteering her services in undeserved communities. It was just over two weeks ago when she felt her symptoms coming on. "When I was returning from the Solomon Islands, I started to experience some chills, a little bit of a fever, and just a slight cough," says Dr. Natuzzi. She flew home a day early and got progressively sicker, with nausea, and intestinal issues. She spoke with a friend who's an infectious disease specialist and two ER doctors. "They said, 'Well, it sounds like you have it, but you're probably not sick enough to be tested at this point in time.'"Dr. Natuzzi was never able to get the test. But as of this week, she's back on her feet and recovering. When she's healthy enough, she'll answer Governor Newsom's call for retired health care workers to return to the job in the fight against coronavirus. For now, she's helping some friends in Hollywood with their cause. "So, please, please, please, donate as much or as little as you can. Everything helps," says actress Alicia Silverstone on her Instagram video.Dr. Natuzzi's and Silverstone have been trying to drum up support for donations to a GoFundMe page created by fellow actor Edward Norton. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A border officer admitted in court Wednesday to putting his hands around a person's neck and shaking them at the Calexico Port of Entry two years ago.U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer Esaul Bello, 53, pleaded guilty to using unreasonable force on the individual while on duty in the primary vehicle lane booth at the Calexico Port of Entry on Nov. 26, 2018.U.S. Attorney Office officials say during inspection, Bello placed both of his hands around the person's neck, even though they were not resisting. Officials say Bello then shook the person.The person was applying for admission to the U.S., officials said.As part of the plea, Bello agreed to resign from his position.“This is a rare and troubling situation,” said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer. “We will always move swiftly to protect the public from officers who use their power to violate another person's Constitutional rights.”Bello will be sentenced on June 2, 2020. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A bill created to improve warehouse working conditions has passed the state's Senate Labor Committee.Assembly Bill 3056, authored by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, ensures warehouse workers can take a restroom break, use a hand-washing station, drink water, or take a legally mandated break without fear of being fired.“We shouldn’t need to write a bill to make sure warehouse workers are able to take a restroom break or wash their hands without being reprimanded. But time and time again, Amazon has shown disregard for the safety of their workers -- even during this ongoing public health crisis,” Gonzalez said.AB 3056 not only applies to Amazon workers, but also to those who work at Target, Walmart, and other retailer warehouses.There has been an exponential rise in online sales leading to several companies adding automated systems to control the workflow.
