CHICANO PARK (KGTV) -- A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot near Chicano Park Friday night, San Diego police said.A caller reported the man shot near Chicano Park on National Avenue and Dewey Street at 9:49 p.m. San Diego Police say officers arrived to find a large group gathered in a parking lot and a silver sedan trying to leave.The group fled, including the occupants of the silver sedan. Officers discovered a 15-year-old Hispanic male in the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.Officers started CPR on the teen before first responders arrived to take him to a nearby hospital. The teen died at the hospital, police said.Police say the teen has been identified but his name was not being released.San Diego police said the incident is being investigated as a homicide. (KGTV) -- Dozens of South Bay parents want to know why the principal at their neighborhood school was unceremoniously removed from her post right before the school closed for Fall Break. “I’m very frustrated,” said Greg Rogers Elementary PTA President Caroline Garvin. Garvin said she learned Friday that the Chula Vista Elementary School District reassigned Principal Erika Taylor.  A district spokesman said Taylor was reassigned as a Principal on Special Assignment in special education. Garvin said the Rogers faculty was told Friday towards the end of the school day. “The looks on the face of the staff:  There were people crying.  There were people that were upset because she was a true leader,” she said.  “To take that away from us without explanation and to do it before a break so that parents can’t even be here to help fight for her is just wrong to me.” All the schools in the Chula Vista Elementary School District are closed for the next two weeks for Fall Break. Garvin said there are a lot of parents upset about Taylor’s removal.  Garvin said she confronted CVESD Superintendent Dr. Francisco Escobedo. “He said he would not be able to give an explanation not now and not in the future,” she recalled. In the meantime, Garvin said Taylor has hired a lawyer to fight for her job back. “She’s got three kids.  She’s a single mom,” said Garvin. “I’m really proud of her.  I want her to fight this.” 1529

CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A former employee of the Sweetwater Union High School District pleaded guilty Wednesday to an embezzlement charge for siphoning more than ,000 from the district.Danya Margarita Williams, 42 of Chula Vista, is scheduled to be sentenced June 13 in a Chula Vista courtroom. Another embezzlement count, as well as a grand theft count, are expected to be dismissed as part of the plea deal.As part of her job, Williams was responsible for processing money orders received for fingerprint background investigations at the district, which are required during employment screenings, according to Chula Vista police Capt. Phil Collum.Each background investigation costs between to per applicant, and the applicants pay the fee using money orders, he said.``Instead of processing the money in accordance with district requirements, Williams deposited the money into her personal bank account,'' Collum said.District officials discovered the embezzlement -- which occurred between June 2016 and December 2017 -- and reported it to police, he said. (KGTV) — Police have made an arrest after the body of a man was discovered in a bank parking lot late Wednesday.Chula Vista Police said 37-year-old Angel Padilla was arrested shortly before 12 p.m. on Thursday in the 300 block of Third Avenue.Police said a suspect matching Padilla's description was seen on security footage with a hatchet-type weapon near where the victim was found.The victim was discovered just before 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday behind the Bank of America located at 295 E Street.
