BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- A plane carrying Chinese nationals who were stranded in Egypt arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport Tuesday afternoon. The plane, operated by the Air China International Corporation, arrived in Beijing at 16:50 p.m. Bejing time. BEIJING, April 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Doctors may choose riskier treatment with fewer severe side effects for themselves than they'd recommend for their patients, according to a study in the Archives of Internal Medicine Tuesday. In the study, two sets of questions were sent to primary care physicians around the United States. One involved choosing between two types of colon cancer surgery and the other situation involved choosing no treatment for the flu, or choosing a made-up treatment less deadly than the disease but which could cause permanent paralysis. Of 242 physicians who answered the colon cancer questionnaire, 38 percent went with the treatment that carried a higher risk of death but fewer side effects for themselves. By contrast, only a quarter said they would recommend that treatment to their patients. In the flu scenario, 63 percent chose the deadlier option of no treatment for themselves, versus 49 percent recommending it for patients. The findings are important because patients faced with difficult medical decisions often ask their doctors, "What would you do?" The answer reflects the doctors' values -- not necessarily those of the patients.Doctors should know what their patients value most before giving advice, and patients should ask doctors the reasons behind their answers, said study author Dr. Peter Ubel, an internist and behavioral scientist at Duke University.

SYDNEY, March 30 (Xinhua) -- Work is good for health while long term work absence, work disability and unemployment can make us miserable, according to a consensus statement from the Australian and New Zealand doctors on Wednesday. The Australian and New Zealand Consensus Statement on the Health Benefits of Work was launched by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) in Wellington. In the statement, doctors say that work is generally good for health and long term break form work along with unemployment and being unable to work due to disability generally have a negative impact on wellbeing.Work is also an effective means of reducing social exclusion, particularly for indigenous people and other disadvantaged groups, the statement says."Work practices, workplace culture, work-life balance, injury management programs and relationships within workplaces are key determinants, not only of whether people feel valued and supported in their work roles, but also of individual health, wellbeing and productivity," it said."Good outcomes are more likely when individuals understand the health benefits of work, and are empowered to take responsibility for their own situation." the statement said.

BEIJING, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- China remained a major victim of trade protectionism during the past year, witnessing 64 trade disputes in this period, covering some 7 billion U.S. dollars in value, China's Vice Commerce Minister, Zhong Shan, said here Wednesday. The country faced trade disputes with both developed countries and developing ones, which came from not only traditional sectors but also high-tech industries, he told a national conference on trade promotion. For the short- and mid-term, China would work to maintain a stable growth in foreign trade and keep the growth rate higher than both the global level and China's economic growth, he said.China would also strive to achieve a more balanced trade structure by boosting imports and outbound investment, to strengthen the quality and efficiency of foreign trade, he added.China's foreign trade last year jumped 34.7 percent year on year to more than 2.97 trillion U.S. dollars, while its trade surplus fell 6.4 percent to 183.1 billion U.S. dollars.
