Hundreds of people had to be rescued from fast-rising flood waters in the Midwest as several areas dealt with historic flooding that washed out roads and bridges. For many, all they have left is what they could grab from their homes before fleeing. Outside Omaha, Nebraska, animal rescue groups worked to save dozens of farm animals in the area, but others had to be left behind. Weather experts say, so far, 38 spots in the Midwest have reported record-high river levels, most of it caused by rain and melting snow. More evacuations could be on the way as floodwaters head downstream. The governors in Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin have declared states of emergency, and some areas could see more chances of rain throughout the week. 745

A couple involved in a confrontation with a mother and daughter outside a Chipotle in Orion Township, Michigan, have been charged with felonious assault, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office. The charges against Jillian Wuestenberg, 32, and her husband, Eric Wuestenberg, 42, were announced by Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard on Thursday during a press conference, which followed video of the incident going viral. Wife, husband charged with felonious assault after pulling gun on a woman with her children Felonious assault is a four-year felony. The video shows a white woman pulling a gun on a Black mother and her daughter outside of a Chipotle in Orion Township on Thursday. During the press conference, Bouchard played four 911 calls from the incident, with some calls coming from bystanders. The video, posted by Takelia Shanee, has thousands of shares.Eric Wuestenberg, who worked for Oakland University in Veterans Support Services, was fired following the confrontation."We have seen the video and we deem his behavior unacceptable," a statement from the university read. "The employee has been notified that his employment has been terminated by the university."Oakland County Executive Dave Coulter released a statement on the incident.“I am deeply disturbed by an incident last night where a woman pointed a cocked gun at another woman during an argument," Coulter said. "This behavior is unacceptable. I wholly expect the prosecutor to bring charges that reflect the severity of the incident.”State Sen. Rosemary Bayer, a Democrat from Beverly Hills, also released a statement:“There is nothing acceptable about what happened in Orion Township last night at the Chipotle. It is abhorrent to think that some in this country have such a sense of self-righteousness and entitlement that the idea of pulling a gun out on an unarmed child and her mother is okay. It is not, and I condemn anyone who thinks otherwise. My heart goes out to Ms. Hill and her daughters, who may now forever be traumatized by this experience."The Rochester District Court will determine an arraignment date. Missouri Gov. Mike Parson has tested positive for COVID-19, his office announced Wednesday afternoon. The announcement came a few hours after a spokesperson for the governor confirmed that first lady Teresa Parson had tested positive for the coronavirus.Parson, 65, has displayed no symptoms and feels healthy, according to a statement from his office, while the first lady has minor symptoms."Needless to say, it's been quite a day ...," Parson said in a video posted on social media Wednesday afternoon. " ... First of all, I want everybody to know that myself and the first lady are both fine." Parson said both he and his wife were tested earlier in the day. He said the "preliminary" results came back positive and that he was taking precautions while waiting for the results to be confirmed. "Right now, I feel fine. No symptoms of any kind," Parson said. "But right now, we just got to take the quarantine procedures in place." Teresa and I wanted to share a quick update with you. pic.twitter.com/FrQzMYmA7F— Governor Mike Parson (@GovParsonMO) September 23, 2020 The Parsons currently are in isolation for at least 10 days, according to Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Director Dr. Randall Williams, who held a brief news conference late Wednesday afternoon. All of the governor's official and campaign events have been canceled until further notice, and all of his staff have been tested. Williams said that contact tracing has begun, but they believe the Parsons' circle is a "smaller number."Parson and the first lady made several appearances together this week, including a visit to the new Lake of the Ozarks golf course on Tuesday, where the two posed for photos without wearing masks. In other photos from the tour, they were shown wearing masks.Over the weekend, the governor attended an event in Springfield, where photos showed him appearing with state Attorney General Eric Schmitt, Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe and Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick. They appeared to be social distancing, but none were wearing masks. Spokespeople for Fitzpatrick and Schmitt said both officials had taken tests earlier Wednesday and tested negative. Parson, a Republican, has been criticized by some for his approach to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly for the swift reopening of the state in early May and for his reluctance to issue a statewide mask mandate. The governor has preached personal responsibility when it comes to stopping the spread of COVID-19 in the state.State Auditor Nicole Galloway, Parson's opponent in the November general election, said that she wished the governor and first lady "a safe and full recovery." “This is a stark reminder that this virus can reach anyone, anywhere and that this pandemic is far from over," Galloway said in a statement. "We must all continue to do our part in preventing the spread of the virus by practicing social distancing, washing hands, and wearing a mask.”On Wednesday, Williams credited Teresa Parson for asking to be tested after experiencing "very mild" symptoms. He also reiterated that Missouri residents should social distance and use hand sanitizer. Here is the full statement from the governor's office: Today, Governor Mike Parson and First Lady Teresa Parson tested positive for COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, the First Lady was tested this morning after displaying minor symptoms. The Governor was then tested as well and received a positive result. All official and campaign events have been canceled until further notice. As a precautionary measure, the Governor's staff has been tested and is awaiting results. At this time, the Governor feels healthy and is displaying no symptoms, and the First Lady has mild symptoms. Proper safety protocols have been implemented at the direction of Dr. Randall Williams, Director of the Department of Health and Senior Services.During this time, Governor Parson continues to conduct and fulfill all roles of businesses of the state of Missouri from the Governor's Mansion without interruption. J & Tylee are gone, Joshua Vallow's grandparents confirm. #JJVallow #TyleeRyan pic.twitter.com/XGPNMbK7U0— Marc Sternfield (@msternfield) June 10, 2020 Police said Wednesday that two bodies were found Tuesday on Daybell's Idaho property during the execution of a search warrant. An official cause of death hasn't been released. The children's grandparents released a statement saying the family was "filled with unfathomable sadness" and could confirm that the bodies were JJ and Tylee. Daybell was taken into custody Tuesday and appeared in court Wednesday when a judge set a million bail. He is currently jailed on charges of “destruction, alteration or concealment of evidence."A prosecutor said during Wednesday's initial court appearance that they were aware the remains were that of children, but at that time officials had not yet fully identified them. Lori Daybell, Chad's current wife, has remained in jail on a million bail as authorities continued the search for JJ and Tylee. She has been in jail since February.Authorities in Arizona had also been investigating two deaths tied to the case -- Lori Daybell's fourth husband, Charles Vallow, as well as her brother, Alex Cox.
