(KGTV) - A group of armed suspects robbed a Sprint store on University Avenue in City Heights Monday night.San Diego Police say three suspects entered the store around 7:45 p.m. Witnesses told investigators that they were forced to the back of the store as the suspects raided a storage area.The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of tablets, phones and cash, said police.A car matching the description of the suspect vehicle was later spotted at the Mobil gas station on Camino Del Rio North in Mission Gorge. CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. – A sheriff’s office in Georgia says it has fired a deputy who was caught on video repeatedly punching a Black man during a traffic stop.The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday the deputy, who is white, was fired for using excessive force on Roderwick Walker.The office did not identify the deputy but added that a criminal investigation has been turned over to the district attorney’s office.According to his attorney, 26-year-old Walker was arrested and beaten after deputies pulled over the vehicle he was riding in Friday with his girlfriend, their 5-month-old child and his stepson for an alleged broken taillight and asked for his identification.Videos of Walker’s arrest quickly surfaced on social media, which appear to show Walker pinned on the ground while officers are on top of him and one deputy punching him.In one video, obtained by WGCL, one of the deputies is heard saying “he bit my hand” and Walker is heard saying “I’m about to die.” You can also hear those witnessing the incident yelling for the officers to stop.The sheriff’s office says Walker has received medical treatment and is being monitored by a doctor at a jail hospital. Cotton Incorporated responded on Tuesday to a viral Facebook controversy surrounding a Hobby Lobby decoration that angered a customer.The customer shared a photo of a cotton decoration on Sept. 14, 2017 on Facebook, and said it is reminiscent of slavery and those who were forced to pick cotton. She called for the retailer to remove the item from shelves."We were surprised at the initial post because cotton has been sold in craft stores and used as a botanical decoration for decades," a Cotton Incorporated spokesman said in a statement. COPPER CENTER, Alaska – A hunter was killed by a grizzly bear in a national park in Alaska.The National Park Service (NPS) says it happened Sunday at Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve in the southeastern part of the state.According to NPS, the hunter was on a 10-day moose hunt with a friend when the bear attacked near the Chisana River drainage.Specific injuries in the attack have not been disclosed, but it appears nobody else was harmed during the incident.Officials say this is the first known bear mauling fatality recorded at the park since it was established in 1980.“Visitors are encouraged to be Bear Aware when traveling in the backcountry and take precautions such as carrying bear spray and using Bear Resistant Food Containers (BRFC),” wrote NPS in a statement. “The park also encourages hunters to read Bear Safety for Hunters located on the ADF&G website.”The identity of the deceased hunter is being withheld pending investigation, NPS says. 979
