The squeeze comes as restrictions increase related to the coronavirus, including a 30-day travel ban from Europe, a county ban on events of 250 or more people, and cancellations of major conventions. RELATED: San Diego County announces five new coronavirus cases, bans large gatherings"There's not going to be customers, sales are going to go very low, and I'm concerned just how long is this going to last?" said Sara Long, a server at downtown's Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers. Long said hours have been as fewer customers come in. She noted that a convention happening at the convention center that was supposed to attract 8,000 people only saw a fraction of those attendees. John McKlosky was one of those attendees, lamenting the shell of the Fiber Optic conference he attends annually. "I've talked to restaurant owners, hotel owners, even the Uber drivers that are running me around. They're devastated."Already, five conventions through May have postponed or canceled, meaning 43,000 potential customers won't be coming downtown. The quick drop off of overnight guests is impacting more than just hotels in downtown, but also lodging in surrounding areas that get a spill over. He also hasn't filled 10 positions he normally would. Lai reacted with shock at President Trump's announcement of the 30-day ban of travel from Europe. "My head exploded," said Lai, also the president of the San Diego County Lodging Association. "I can't speak for them but the San Diego airport is seeing major drops in travel coming to town. While their facility was spared by the Camp Fire, communities around it were devastated.Sierra Nevada founder Ken Grossman reached out to fellow brewers to join him in the disaster relief effort, making their ‘Resilience Butte County Proud IPA’ recipe available to those who want to help. The brewery is asking that 100 percent of profits go to fire relief efforts. So far over 1,200 breweries have pledged to make and sell the beer.“I’ve never seen anything on this scale,” said Jim Millea, brewmaster at OB Brewery. “That’s a lot of beer being made for a good cause, it’s pretty sweet!”Millea says he didn’t hesitate to join the effort.“Who wouldn’t want to be a part of a good cause?” said Millea. He’s one of many in the San Diego region who will be brewing Resilience IPA. Millea hopes to have his on tap at the OB Brewery in a few weeks. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — FBI investigators are searching for a woman wanted in two grocery store bank robberies.The woman, described as a Caucasian blonde in her 20s standing about 5-feet 6-inches tall, is believed to be behind two heists in La Mesa and Rolando areas this month.On Sept. 12, investigators say the woman walked into a US Bank inside the Vons grocery store at 6155 El Cajon Blvd. just before 3 p.m. She presented a demand note to the teller and fled with an unknown amount of cash. She was wearing a hat and sunglasses during the incident to hide her identity.RELATED: FBI seeks tips in finding Oak Park bank robberThe suspect wore a grey, long-sleeved sweater, black yoga pants, black sunglasses, and a black hat.Then on Sept. 16, the same woman is believed to have entered the Wells Fargo Bank inside a Vons at 8011 University Ave. in La Mesa just after 10 a.m. Wearing a similar disquise, the woman presented the teller a demand note and fled with cash.No weapons were seen during the robberies, investigators said.Anyone with information on the suspect's identity is asked to call San Diego FBI at 858-320-1800 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 1166

  

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Family and supporters of Jonathan Coronel stood at the San Diego County Administration Center Friday, demanding justice for the past three years without their loved one.Coronel was shot 16 times by San Diego Sheriff's Deputy Christopher Villanueva in Vista July of 2017."It has been three years of trauma and dehumanization," Coronel's Cousin Rocio Zamora said.Zamora urged defunding the Sheriff's Department, and transferring that money to underserved communities, "to transform them to community empowerment zones. The safest communities don't have the most cops they have the most resources."She also demanded police officers be taken out of schools and replaced with counselors.These demands shouted at a time when law enforcement is under the microscope.Law enforcement said Coronel was a documented gang member with a warrant.The morning Coronel died law enforcement said he ran from deputies. Once Villanueva caught up to Coronel, law enforcement said Coronel concealed his hand in his shirt, forcing Villanueva to fire.A witness said Coronel took off his shirt to show he was unarmed.Law enforcement confirmed Coronel was unarmed at the time of his death."Deputy Christopher Villanueva is the most dangerous gang member in Vista. He is the one who shot Sergio Weick 28 plus times," Zamora said.Sergio Weick, 33, was shot and killed August of 2016 by Villanueva.Law enforcement said he was running from deputies, had knives, and threatened deputies, forcing Villanueva to shoot. Law enforcement said he was also a documented gang member with a warrant.Back on the steps of the county administration building, Zamora said they are not anywhere near ending their fight for justice, "three years and we are only growing bigger, we are only getting louder." 1787

Disposal services will be available at SDCCU Stadium in Mission Valley from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. City of San Diego residents can drop off appliances, furniture, electronics, televisions, and other bulky belongings. Smaller recyclable items including batteries and light bulbs will also be accepted. Goodwill Industries of San Diego County and Urban Corps of San Diego will accept items and mattresses. The donation and recycling event is part of the Clean SD initiative to reduce illegal dumping. 707
