BEIJING, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- China will continue to implement a proactive fiscal policy this year amid complicated economic environments both at home and abroad, Minister of Finance Xie Xuren said Wednesday.
A report of China National Radio said Tuesday that more than one fifth of the companies listed on ChiNext might be de-listed if they report losses for two consecutive years in line with the new regulations.
Geng noted that China has been playing an active role in promoting international naval escort operations and has boosted its exchanges of intelligence, as well as increased the number of joint naval escort missions and drills with relevant countries and organizations.
"The move reflects that the Chinese economy fell into unstable conditions and timely adjustments in monetary policies are needed," said Wu Xiaoqiu, an economist at Renmin University of China.
Their expectations are well-justified. China's Consumer Price Index (CPI) grew by 5.4 percent year-on-year in 2011, while its benchmark Shanghai Composite Index has fallen below 2,500 points, a dramatic drop from its peak of 6,000-plus points several years ago. Although market cooling measures have helped to rein in the cost of housing in urban China, many low- and middle-income Chinese still believe affordable housing is beyond their reach.
