(KGTV) — A nursing student's trip to a Starbucks in National City turned into an knock-down struggle and dramatic chase in pursuit of her laptop.With three finals next week, nursing student Jacqueline Ang spent the Friday using a computer at a library Bonita. "Grateful for the resource, but it's not the same," said Ang, who is wrapping up her first year in the nursing program at Southwestern College.It's not the same, because it doesn't have what she really needs: a year of notes. "It's devastating," said Ang.On Monday afternoon, she was studying with her MacBook Pro at a busy Starbucks on E. Plaza Boulevard. "Both earphones are in listening to lectures. One hand on my laptop, and the other hand taking notes," said Ang.Ang says she was at a table near the middle of the Starbucks when an older black teen in a hoodie walked in, and right up to her. He unplugged her earphones and turned to her computer. "Grabs it by the screen, closes it and starts running," said Ang.As the man ran off, Ang screamed to get someone's attention. She then took off after him. "When he's at the door, I'm able to grab him by the hoodie and bring him down. I'm saying, 'Please don't take it. Please don't take it,'" said Ang.On the ground, a struggle unfolded. Ang weighs just over 100 pounds."It's all that's on my mind. 'Omigod, everything I worked hard for is on that thing. I need that. I need to fight for that,'" said Ang.At some point during the struggle, she says the man was able to hand it off to another young man in a hoodie. Ang chased the other man, who slipped into a van in the parking lot. She was close behind, opening a side door. "I see three or four people in the van. I was holding onto the handle, running with the car as they're moving," said Ang.A bystander's short video shows her being dragged, before she let go. The incident left her with a sprained wrist and no laptop, but one big clue. Because Ang made the thieves' plans go awry, a witness was able to get the license plate number.National City Police asked 10News not to release the license plate in order to not endanger the investigation. A spokesperson says they see a handful of similar crimes every year, but haven't linked the suspects to any other incidents.A Gofundme campaign has been set up to help Ang purchase a new computer. 2344

MILWAUKEE — Protesters marched the 38 miles between Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Milwaukee on Tuesday to call for justice for Jacob Blake and encourage early voting.The Jacob Blake “Rally for Justice” began just after midnight in Kenosha, and the marchers wound its way through the streets of southeastern Wisconsin more than 30 miles to downtown Milwaukee nearly 18 hours later.Organizers hope the energy from the march will carry voters to the ballot boxes this month, as early voting gets underway in Wisconsin.Tanya McClean, the executive director of Leaders of Kenosha, led the group on the march.“We’re going to continue fighting for Jacob and all the families that have lost love ones to police brutality,” McClean said.Jacob Blake’s uncle says the support for his nephew is appreciated.“These people walked 38 miles baby, that’s commitment for justice for little Jake,” Justin Blake said.Justin Blake also demanded that Kenosha Police Officer Rusten Sheskey be fired, indicted, and convicted. Sheskey shot Jacob Blake seven times in the back in August, leaving him paralyzed.Justin Blake said the family would ask local elected officials to make a pledge against systemic racism.“We’re going to ask you to sign a document to tell us where you stand on the shooting that you saw and the whole world saw. So that people can vote consciously about where you stand on systemic racism” Justin Blake said.Justin Blake says his nephew remains paralyzed from the waist down in an Illinois rehabilitation center, working on his upper body strength.The investigation into the shooting has been handed over to an independent consultant. NAPLES, Fla. - Two people were killed after falling 70 feet when an elevator collapsed in Naples, Florida on Wednesday. Two construction workers were standing on a lift at Club Brittany of Park Shore, the Naples Fire Department said. They working on an outside elevator when the lift the construction workers were on collapsed and dropped 70 feet, they said. It has been confirmed both workers are dead. The elevator is attached to the side of the building and is typically used during renovations."This would be used after the building is completed, probably windows, railings, repairs and stucco," said David Mola, a contractor who lives near the accident.Mola says accidents involving these elevators are extremely rare.  Construction on condominiums along Gulfshore Boulevard have ramped up since season has ended."They're usually restricted, they usually have 6 months from now to late October to finish," said Mola.Officials from OSHA, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration arrived at the scene to investigate.The identity of the victims have not been released. 1107
