A federal judge on Monday dismissed a lawsuit that claimed President Donald Trump illegally benefits from his Washington hotel and that same hotel hurts restaurants that are also near the White House.The lawsuit was brought forward in 2017 by Cork Wine Bar, a restaurant in Washington that said it suffered because lobbyists and other political-minded customers chose to host fundraisers, events and dinners at the Trump International Hotel rather than at its business.But Judge Richard Leon of the DC District Court wrote in his opinion Monday that Cork couldn't claim a competitive disadvantage simply because of a public figure's fame."Cork does not, for example, accuse (the hotel) or President Trump of acting to dissuade potential customers from patronizing Cork or somehow obstructing entry to Cork's location," Leon wrote.If he had ruled in the restaurant's favor, Leon wrote, "I would be foreclosing all manner of prominent people—from pop singers to celebrity chefs to professional athletes—from taking equity in the companies they promote. ... A city in China is warning consumers after a sample of frozen chicken wings from Brazil has tested positive for the coronavirus.A statement from the city of Shenzhen says a “surface sample of frozen chicken wings” tested positive. Coronavirus testing was done on anyone who may have had contact with the product, and so far tests have come back negative, according to city officials.Authorities are tracing related products from the same brand that have already been sold, and have disinfected the area where the contaminated chicken wings were stored, according to CNN.The city warns people about buying imported frozen meat and aquatic products and to take steps to reduce the risk of contracting the coronavirus.The CDC and WHO say the chances of catching the coronavirus from food is low.“Currently, there is no evidence to suggest that handling food or consuming food is associated with COVID-19,” the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states on their website.However, they continue by stating it is possible a person could touch a surface that has the virus on it and then touch their mouth or nose, potentially spreading the virus.The CDC recommends safe food practices like washing hands after touching food packaging and food products, and cooking meat thoroughly. 1290

A COVID-19 vaccine candidate being produced by biotech company Moderna has shown to be 94.5% effective in Phase 3 clinical trials, the company said Monday.The news means that the company is on track to request Emergency Use Authorization status for the drug in the coming weeks. The vaccine is already being mass-produced and thousands of doses will be ready to ship following authorization.Moderna's vaccine is closely tied with "Operation Warp Speed," a Trump administration program that provided nearly billion in government funding for research and support, and placed the vaccine on an FDA fast-track.On Aug. 11, the Department of Health and Human Services announced it was paying .5 billion ".5 billion in funds to support the large-scale manufacturing and delivery" for 100 million doses of Moderna's vaccine candidate.Moderna said Monday that 20 million doses of its vaccine will be available to ship by the end of 2020, and is on track to produce between 500 million and 1 billion doses in 2021.Health experts believe that a vaccine will be available to some people by the end of 2020, and will be widely available in spring 2021. Though it's unclear who specifically will qualify to receive the drug first, doses will need to be rationed for several months before vaccines are widely available.The release comes a week after Pfizer announced its own vaccine candidate was also on track for mass distribution after showing 90% effectiveness in Phase 3 trials.Moderna's announcement comes as welcome news to the U.S., where COVID-19 is currently spreading at a rate unseen since the pandemic first hit. A lot of people depend on their service animals to help take care of them. But one Las Vegas woman said when her dog Luna began having trouble walking, she knew she had to go the extra mile to take care of her. Luna is a 10-year-old German Shepherd, emotional support animal and a lifesaver. Her owner is Sharlene Branche."She has saved my life so many times. Literally gotten me out of bed because of my breathing problems," Branche said.So when Branche noticed Luna wobbling as she walked, she became worried. "She has never whimpered. She has never cried, " Branche said. "She has never shown any kind of pain, but it's my turn, our turn for me and my husband to help her."X-rays found no issues with Luna's bones, spine or hips. Yet the problems with her walk persisted. Sharlene reached out to Urban Underdog Las Vegas, a nonprofit group for help. They shared Luna's story on their Facebook page. Cynthia Miyamoto said the response was overwhelming."So we posted it, and in less than about eight hours somebody had contacted us," Miyamoto said.Someone donated a brand new doggie wheelchair for Luna to help her get around better. Branche said she is overjoyed. "She's going to be able to go on her walks and her runs again. And I can't even thank this person enough!" Branche said. "So when we are fitting her with the harness and putting on her I literally started crying because I was so happy and excited," Miyamoto said after the delivery.  1517

A federal judge has dismissed adult film star Stormy Daniels' defamation lawsuit against President Donald Trump.Daniels sued Trump after he said Daniels' story of a man threatening her not to come forward with her story of her alleged affair with Trump was "a total con job."Daniels argued Trump's tweet "attacks the veracity of her account" of the incident and that Trump's statement was "false and defamatory, and that the tweet was defamation ... because it charged her with committing a serious crime," District Judge S. James Otero wrote in his opinion Monday.Trump had asked Otero to dismiss the lawsuit."The Court agrees with Mr. Trump's argument because the tweet in question constitutes 'rhetorical hyperbole' normally associated with politics and public discourse in the United States. The First Amendment protects this type of rhetorical statement," Otero wrote.Daniels says she and Trump had an affair in 2006, shortly after he married first lady Melania Trump and she gave birth to their son, Barron. Trump has denied the affair.In addition, Trump is entitled to attorney's fees, Otero said.Trump's attorney Charles J.
