A California police officer was charged Wednesday in connection with a fatal shooting at an Oakland-area Walmart store in April.San Leandro Police Officer Jason Fletcher was charged with voluntary manslaughter in connection with an incident where he fatally shot 33-year-old Steven Taylor on April 18.According to the Alameda County District Attorney's office, a security guard at the store called police when Taylor tried to leave San Leandro Walmart with a baseball bat and a tent without paying.Fletcher responded to the call and approached Taylor as he entered the store. The officer tried to grab the baseball bat from Taylor, and when he couldn't get control of the bat he drew his stun gun.After firing the stun gun, Taylor stumbled forward with the bat sitll in his hand. According to body camera footage, Fletcher repeatedly asked Taylor to drop the bat. He now faces 25 counts of knowingly possessing a ballot with intent to defraud and 84 counts of providing false information on a voting application, according to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.Paxton’s office alleges Mohamed “obtained a virtual mailbox using a false identity, forged at least 84 voter registration applications for unwitting Denton residents and had them sent to a fraudulent location.”When he was arrested, Mohamed was reportedly in the process of stuffing envelopes with additional mail ballot applications for a nearby county.County officials began their investigation after Denton County officials noticed several absentee ballots were being mailed to the same post office box, according to the Texas Tribune.It is not clear from the investigation if any ballots were actually cast or mailed in.If Mohamed is found guilty, he could face up to 20 years in prison. 1081

A man is dead after falling off a ladder while cutting a tree branch following Hurricane Irma.Hillsborough County, Florida Fire Rescue responded to Puritan Road in Tampa, at approximately 2:54 p.m. on Thursday, after receiving a call about a person down.Upon arrival, firefighters found 60-year-old John Knight on the ground.According to a witness, Knight was cutting a tree branch when it hit him and knocked him off his ladder, causing him to fall between 20 to 25 feet.Firefighters pronounced Knight dead at the scene. 559
