From its distribution center in Amsterdam, guitars go to all corners of the world. While guitars are sent to remote areas, they're also in the hands of music's most well known stars, from Taylor Swift, Prince, and George Straight, to Alan Jackson, David Matthews and Ben Harper, the list goes on.Chris Wellons, the VP of Manufacturing talks about the company's mission. First, at Taylor Guitars there's an emphasis on finding your fit. That means physical fit and musical fit. A guitar should be comfortable, and its sound should complement your playing style. Wellons says the company is a leader in sustainability. For every Koa tree they cut down in Hawaii, they plant three behind it.Success has followed Taylor Guitars. It's bringing in 5 million a year. Dr. Scott Gottlieb, commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration, announced Tuesday a "blitz" on retailers?for violations related to sales of Juul and other e-cigarettes to minors.Forty warning letters were sent to brick-and-mortar retailers as a first step toward stopping underage use of e-cigarettes, the FDA said. The government agency also said it sent Juul Labs, the maker of an e-cigarette popular among teens, a request to submit documents related to product marketing and research, including information about "youth initiation and use.""We don't yet fully understand why these products are so popular among youth," Gottlieb wrote in the public statement. "But it's imperative that we figure it out, and fast. These documents may help us get there."Juul spokeswoman Victoria Davis said the company "agrees with the FDA that illegal sales of our product to minors are unacceptable. We already have in place programs to prevent and, if necessary, identify and act upon these violations at retail and online marketplaces, and we will announce additional measures in the coming days."Electronic cigarettes (also called e-cigarettes or e-cigs), vapes, vaporizers and hookah pens are among the terms used to describe electronic nicotine delivery systems. These products use an "e-liquid" that may contain nicotine as well as flavorings and other ingredients. The liquid is heated into an aerosol that the user inhales. Some products resemble conventional cigarettes, but others look like pens or other ordinary items. Juul resembles an everyday flash drive, which may explain its popularity among teens.The FDA has conducted 908,280 inspections of tobacco retailers, issued 70,350 warning letters and initiated about 17,000 civil money penalty cases in its efforts to fight the sale of e-cigarettes and other tobacco products to minors, it said Tuesday. For the current "blitz," the agency said, it also contacted one online retailer, which removed listings for Juul products and then voluntarily implemented policies to prevent future listings.More than 2 million middle and high school students described themselves as current users of e-cigarettes in 2016 (the most recent year studied), according to a government report: about 11% of high school students and 4.3% of middle school students. Overall, e-cigarette use by high school students increased 900% from 2011 to 2015, according to a separate 2016 report from the US surgeon general.In a recent Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health survey, 81% of minors who currently vape said their primary reason for doing so is "availability of appealing flavors.""Widespread reports of youth use of JUUL products are of great public health concern," Gottlieb said in the announcement. (KGTV) - Grandparents and their grandson escaped a house fire in El Cajon Wednesday night but they lost their family cat.The fire broke out in the back room of a home on Gladys St. at 11 p.m.Despite the danger, the grandson ran back into the home to find the cat. He suffered smoke inhalation and was treated by paramedics.Another grandson told 10News his grandparents are devastated because they had lived at the home. He started a GoFundMe account to help them recover.The fire was knocked down in 15 minutes. Heartland Fire crews are investigating the cause.A Heartland Fire Battalion Chief who was responding to the fire collided with a car while exiting Interstate 8 at Mollison, El Cajon police said.No one was hurt, but both vehicles had to be towed. 782

Early Friday morning, the Senate passed a .3 trillion spending package that will increase funding for the military and domestic spending and will keep the government funded through the end of September, sending the legislation to the President for his signature house ahead of a midnight deadline.The Senate passed the bill after a whirlwind day where at least two Republican senators held up the legislative process and made it appear unclear whether the bill could pass ahead of the deadline. The bill passed 65-32, averting a potential government shutdown and funding the government through September 30.The House passed the legislation earlier Thursday, voting 256-167 with Democrats and Republicans coming together to pass it less than 24 hours after the 2,300-page bill was made public. 802
