SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect after two people were stabbed in the San Diego River Tuesday night. According to police, the stabbing happened on the 500 block of Morena Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. between Old Town and Linda Vista.After the stabbing, the suspect, only described as a man wearing a white shirt, fled the scene. Despite a police helicopter and officers on foot, the suspect managed to escape.Lt. Mike Ramsay said the two victims were hispanic men, ages 18 and 19. One was stabbed in the chest and the other in the stomach. They were taken to UCSD Medical Center in Hillcrest. Ramsay described their condition as "serious but stable."Police closed off Morena Boulevard near Interstate 8 as they searched for the suspect, creating heavy traffic in the area. 10News will continue to keep you updated as soon as we receive more information. 882

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - One of four teenagers accused of fatally beating a man near Petco Park was charged Tuesday with murder and torture.San Diego Police said Dominick Wells, 19, and three juvenile females aged 14, 15 and 17 attacked Edward Starland near a bridge behind the ballpark the afternoon of Nov. 18.Witnesses said Starland had been fighting with the group before he was thrown to the ground and beaten. The group ran off down Imperial Avenue. Starland’s sister Catherine flew to San Diego from Florida to be by his side when he was on life support in the hospital. She said her brother had a heart condition and a pacemaker, and didn’t know why anyone would attack him."I came here for my brother because I don't want him to be alone. I want him to know I'm by his side; when he wakes up he knows I'm here,” she said. Starland, 56, died of his injuries Dec. 3.Police later arrested the teens. Wells is currently being held on a first-degree murder charge at San Diego Central Jail. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — More than 400,000 people in San Diego County have already cast their ballot for the November election."We are unprecedented, unchartered, in so many different ways in historic numbers of mail-in ballots that are coming back to our office," said Michael Vu with the San Diego Registrar of Voters. Saturday, Vu said the registrar had received 432,000 ballots have been cast. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Police are investigating a shooting in Ocean Beach that left a man dead early Tuesday morning.According to San Diego police, gunfire was reported at around 1 a.m. on the beach by Lifeguard Tower No. 2 near 1900 Abbott Street. Witnesses reported hearing as many as four shots fired, ABC 10News learned.Responding officers arrived at the scene to find an unidentified man with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body.Despite life-saving measures, the man was declared dead at the scene. The victim was described by police as a man in his 50s or 60s, and witnesses believe he was homeless and frequents the Ocean Beach area. Officers are searching the area for the gunman, but a detailed description of the suspected shooter was not immediately available. 784
