(KGTV) — La Mesa city officials have launched an investigation after video surfaced of an incident at a local trolley station on Wednesday.The incident occurred at the Grossmont Trolley Station on Fletcher Parkway, according to the city and the video online. The video appears to "indicate that a LMPD officer detained an African American male, and in the process, the LMPD officer administered physical contact," the city wrote in a press release.The video shows an altercation between a man and an officer escalate at the trolley station. Eventually, the man is handcuffed by officers and told he is being charged with assaulting an officer.The city says it has started a special investigation into the incident and that the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation."The Special Investigator has already been selected, and his appointment is pending the execution of a special services agreement which will be released for public review when available," the city says.A statement from La Mesa Mayor Mark Arapostathis added, "The City takes these matters very seriously, and consequently, in conjunction with the City Manager’s and City Attorney’s offices, has already begun the appropriate steps forward to investigate this matter thoroughly and take all necessary actions."LMPD issued a statement, saying they are "aware of a video circulating on social media depicting an interaction between a police officer and a citizen at the Grossmont Trolley Station yesterday. LA MESA (CNS) - One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 8 in La Mesa and lanes of the freeway were blocked this morning until further notice.The crash occurred near state Route 125 at 9:55 p.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.A witness told officers one vehicle was being driven recklessly just before hitting the center divider wall.The crash blocked three westbound lanes of the freeway and a SigAlert was issued at 10:30 p.m., the CHP said.The age, gender, and name of the victim was not disclosed. 557

LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A work trailer slammed into a home, nearly hitting a girl holding her baby sister in East County Monday afternoon. Just before 1 p.m. Monday a trailer filled with debris at a home under construction started rolling down the Palm Avenue in Lemon Grove. “It sounded like a crash at first,” said Abigail Jimenez, who was inside the home at the time of the crash. “I was inside and laying down in the couch and I hear some noise and something was beeping and it pushes my couch and my baby sister was with me,” Jimenez added. Fortunately, no one inside the home at the time of the crash was injured. The building inspector had to yellow tag the house, saying enough damage was done to the home to limit the family’s access. I was scared after I found what happened because it pushed us and I didn't know if it was a dream or not but thank God that we didn't get hurt or anything,” Jimenez said. 929

LAKELAND, Fla. (WFTS) - An 85-year-old man was bitten by an alligator at a Florida retirement community, the Florida Wildlife Commission said.The incident happened at the Cypress Lakes Retirement Community in Lakeland Monday afternoon.The man was reportedly bitten on the foot and taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center. The extent of his injuries are unknown.Sheriff’s deputies called a wildlife trapper, who removed the gator. Experts estimated its size at 9’9”.Jane Rickel, who lives nearby, said trappers found the man’s white sneaker in the gator’s mouth.“His wife heard him screaming supposedly. And I guess his neighbor came to his rescue. There isn’t a pond in here that doesn’t have alligators,” Rickel said.The retirement community posted on its Facebook page about the incident and reminded residents about safety around alligators. 855
