VICTORIA, Seychelles, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Zhou Yongkang, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has met leaders of the Seychelles on bilateral relations. The CPC is willing to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the People's Party of the Seychelles to further strengthen the political basis of the bilateral relationship, said the senior CPC official.     The CPC and the Chinese government are also willing to boost cooperation with African countries, including the Seychelles, in meeting the challenges of the international financial crisis, said Zhou.     Faure said China has always treated the Seychelles, a small country, on an equal footing, adding that the two nations, the two peoples and the ruling parties of both countries have maintained friendly relations, which could be regarded as a model for relations between big and small countries.     The People's Party hopes to promote exchanges with the CPC on the experience of governance, said Faure.     When meeting with Vice President Joseph Belmont on Friday, Zhou said the relations between China and the Seychelles have witnessed a sustained healthy and steady development since the two countries established diplomatic ties 33 years ago.     With the smooth implementation of China's eight measures regarding cooperation with Africa, proposed by Chinese President Hu Jintao in 2006, China and the Seychelles have seen increased exchanges of high-level visits, deepened traditional friendship and expanded cooperation, Zhou said.     The Chinese government announced eight new measures to enhance cooperation with Africa earlier this month, and China is willing to jointly implement these measures with the Seychelles so as to bring more benefits to the Africans, including the Seychelles people, he said.     The senior CPC official also expressed appreciation for the support of the People's Party and the Seychelles government on the Taiwan and human rights issues.     Belmont said the Seychelles people have benefited extensively from China-Africa cooperation, adding that the Seychelles welcomed China's new measures on its cooperation with Africa and would implement them in a timely manner.     While expressing the hope for enhanced cooperation in tourism, the Seychelles vice president also expected more investment from Chinese companies in the country's tourism sector.     Zhou arrived here Thursday for a technical stopover after concluding visits to Sudan and South Africa.

HARBIN, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao conveyed new year greetings to workers, farmers, local residents and officials during his visit to northeastern Heilongjiang Province on the first two days of the year.     Braving the freezing weather, Wen visited the cities of Daqing and Qiqihar in Heilongjiang. It was Wen's third visit to Daqing since 2003. At Daqing oilfield, he said Daqing people had not only produced two billion tonnes of oil for the country, but also the invincible Daqing spirit which was kept well over the past five decades. BEIJING, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- China's Supreme People's Court (SPC) on Wednesday published two regulations, pledging to improve media supervision and public access to the courts' case filing, trial, hearing and law enforcement process, as well as to the verdict documents and court affairs.     The two regulations were aimed to improve judicial democracy, ensure judicial justice, and protect the legitimate rights of the litigants and defendants involved, said Sun Jungong, spokesman of the SPC, during a press conference.     According to the regulations, people involved in lawsuits would have access to all relevant information when filing a lawsuit, and would be kept informed of important information during the law enforcement process.     In open-trial cases, the public and journalists could attend the trials after safety checks.     The courts' verdict documents would be published online if they did not include state secrets, teenage criminal records, personal privacy or other contents inappropriate for publication, while the courts' affairs would also be made public.     Meanwhile, the regulations said journalists might face criminal charges if they disclose state or business secrets, impair national and social interests, distort facts when covering on-going trials, violate the reputation rights of judges or people involved in lawsuits, or conduct any other activities that may harm judicial justice.

BEIJING, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Tuesday called for more efforts to optimize land use in order to save resources and further economic restructuring.     Li made the remarks during an inspection to the Ministry of Land and Resources (MLR). As the most populous country in the world, China has been faced with shortages of land, water, energy and minerals, and the shortages were worsened by rapid economic growth, he said. BEIJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- China should keep home prices from long time "abnormal increases" and divert profits made from home price hikes to the public through taxation, a senior property official said here Friday.     Dong Zuoji, director of land planning department of the Ministry of Land and Resources, said home prices would continue to rise as the land in the world's fastest-growing economy is becoming increasingly scarce, but the government should use taxes to give the added value of the land back to society.     "China hasn't seen overcapacity in real estate sector on the whole, otherwise home prices wouldn't have gained so much," he said while attending a meeting held in Beijing.     Dong said the government would increase land supply for subsidized homes and adopt measures to prevent developers from hoarding land.     The government would also guarantee land use for high-tech, high added-value enterprises while limiting that of backward production projects.     Due to a series of supportive measures adopted by the government, China's property sector rebounded strongly this year. Home prices in 70 large and medium-sized cities rose for the eight straight month in October.     Average house price in Beijing surged 43.7 percent in July from that of January, to 14,500 yuan per square meter, Golden Keys, a property agent said on July 17.
