A giant blimp of London Mayor Sadiq Khan will be seen in the UK capital's skies this weekend after protesters were given permission to fly the crowdfunded balloon in Westminster.More than 3,000 supporters have donated more than ￡58,000 (,500) in total to fund the 29-foot balloon, which depicts the mayor reclining in a small yellow bikini.Protest organizer Yanny Bruere, who describes himself as a British free speech advocate, said he had set up the crowdfunding campaign in response to London authorities' decision to allow a "Trump Baby" blimp to be flown during last month's visit to Britain by US President Donald Trump.He said the Parliament Square event on Saturday morning "marks the fightback for free speech in our country."Bruere, who has set up a "Make London Safe Again" group on Facebook, accuses Khan of doing too little to prevent violent crime in London.The Crowdfunder page posted by Bruere said: "In light of the Donald Trump 'Baby Trump' ballon being allowed to fly over London during his visit to the U.K., let's get a 'baby Khan' one and see if FREE SPEECH applies to all and whether or not Mr Khan and the London assembly will also approve this."Under Sadiq Khan, we have seen crime sky rocket to unprecedented levels. Khan published a new knife crime strategy in June and promised to do everything possible to drive knife crime from London. A man assaulted his elderly father when he came home from work and found that dinner wasn't ready, police in Pennsylvania claim.Frank Steinetz, 50, of Taylor, Pennsylvania, repeatedly punched his 83-year-old dad in the head and face on Monday night, according to Scranton's Times-Tribune.The newspaper reported that when Steinetz came home at 5:45 p.m. he got mad because his father had not prepared a meal for him.A neighbor called police after hearing screaming from Steinetz's house. The neighbor told officers he could hear Steinetz asking, "Oh, does that hurt?" along with what sounded like a physical assault.Steinetz's father, who was described as "extremely frail" by police, had bruises on his face, arms and leg after the incident, according to the Associated Press."He beat me up," the 83-year-old victim told police, according to The Times-Tribune.Steinetz was arrested on charges of aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. A California farm that was tied to an outbreak of E.coli on romaine lettuce is now recalling cauliflower and other lettuce grown at the farm.Adam Bros. Farming Inc. sent out a news release Thursday saying red leaf lettuce, green leaf lettuce and cauliflower harvested November 27-30 has been recalled because it may also be contaminated with E.coli.The farm initiated the voluntary recall with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday. The cauliflower was distributed in 10 states: Arizona, California, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania. It was also distributed in Tijuana, Mexico and Canada. The additional lettuce recalled was sent to states mostly on the western side of the country. Red and green leaf lettuce was distributed in California, Colorado, Oregon, Texas, Pennsylvania, Washington and Canada. A chicken processing plant in central California will close for about a week starting Tuesday for deep cleaning and to test every employee for COVID-19 after at least eight employees have died from the virus.The Foster Farms Livingston Poultry Complex in Merced County was declared an outbreak site at the end of June, and county health officials have been working with the company to implement safety measures before the shutdown was ordered.In addition to the eight employees who have died, 392 have tested positive for COVID-19.“We agree that the best approach to ensuring the future safety of our Livingston plant workers is to begin anew with a clean slate,” a statement from the company reads. The plant will close Tuesday, September 1 and reopen September 7.“During this downtime, the company will complete two rounds of deep cleaning and two rounds of COVID-19 testing covering all 1,400 plant employees,” the company states.The plant was originally ordered to shut down last week, but after conversations with the US Department of Agriculture and county health officials, the closure was moved to September 1, according to local media reports.“MCDPH allowed Foster Farms additional time before closure due to the massive coordination efforts required to prepare the facility for appropriate disinfection and safe removal of poultry,” the county said in a press release.Merced County Department of Health says all employees will need to test negative twice within seven days in order to return to work at the plant.In addition, the health department says Foster Farms needs to make changes to their social distancing of employees on-the-job, expanded break areas, proper personal protection equipment for employees and “other hygiene measures.”“We further agree with the Merced Public Health Department that opportunities exist to enhance social distancing, add to professional healthcare staffing that will oversee COVID-19 programs, and improve COVID-19 related employee communication,” Foster Farms stated. 2025
