His first symptom was shortness of breath, which he initially blamed on his asthma."He then feeling started feeling joint pain, his whole body ached and continued to worse. Then he got a fever," said his friend Alana Hoang.Hoang says two Fridays ago, while Huerta was waiting in his primary care doctors office, his conditions worsened."Shortness of breath got worse. He couldn't breathe ... He ended up in the ER," said Hoang.There, Huerta tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted."He was very scared. He didn't want his kids to have to go through something so traumatic again, like they did with their mother," said Hoang.Huerta, a father of four - two adult children and two teens - lost his wife Sara nearly five years ago to cancer.Alone in the hospital, his thoughts turned to his children."He was afraid he wasn't going to be there for them, so he started thinking the worst," said Huerta.Meanwhile, Hoang started a Gofundme campaign to help the man she says is "part of the family."Huerta, a gardener, has been working with her for 15 years."He is just so kind and gives of himself. Some locals say they're concerned not having access to life's essentials, but others are discovering delivery apps and services to get them through self-isolation. Since the Stay-at-home Order, phones at the Eldahmy Wellness Pharmacy in La Jolla and Barrio Logan have not stopped ringing. It's because they have a pharmacist available 24/7, and they not offer free deliveries-- not just on prescriptions, but over-the-counter items as well. "We want to help people," Ahmed Eldahmy, Founder of Eldahmy Wellness Pharmacy, said. "It doesn't have to be a patient of ours. Anyone can call us, and we will deliver to you as long as you're in San Diego County. "Many San Diegans have started using delivery services like these for anything and everything. "We're really trying to stay in the house as much as possible," a Carmel Valley man told 10News.He has a wife and three young children. One of his daughters has Celiac Disease. She requires a special, gluten-free diet. He said he could not find anything on the shelves, so he searched online and found Instacart."I downloaded the app, and I placed the order, not knowing if it will be for filled or not, and that was Monday," he said. Churches around the county were forced to make changes to their services, but some embrace the new scenery.Sunday morning mass was held outdoors for parishioners at Saint Agnes Catholic Church. Members brought their beach chairs to worship in the church’s parking lot.“I love being able to see people here, gathered together, and worship together,” says Father Bill Marquis.The changes came after the governor’s announcement to stop indoor activities due to the rise in COVID-19 cases across the state. San Diego county is one a few dozen on the state’s watchlist.Saint Agnes Catholic Church says it is still offering virtual services, but it was the members who requested to have the “beach chair mass” on Sunday morning.“Parishioners asked me if we were going to have mass on Sunday, I said we were going to live stream it,” says Father Marquis. “She says we would still like to have an outdoor mass on Sunday, if possible. I said why, and she said because we want to receive communion. That was the deciding factor for me.”As many churches around the county make changes to their services, some places of worship are working with city leaders to hold outdoor services. Poway officials approved a plan to share park space with places of worship and fitness centers. The City of El Cajon is looking into a similar idea. 1452
