Former ESPN president John Skipper says he abruptly resigned from the network late last year because he was being extorted by a cocaine dealer.In an in-depth interview with The Hollywood Report's James Andrew Miller, Skipper recounted his substance abuse issues and the decision to leave the network.Skipper told Miller that he used cocaine intermittently throughout his professional life. He says the habit began before he joined ESPN in 1997, but maintained that his drug use never interfered with his work, outside of "a missed plane and a few canceled morning appointments."Skipper also said he was "unusually clever" in finding ways to buy cocaine so as not to attract attention to himself. That changed in December, when he says someone he had not dealt with before attempted to extort him for purchasing drugs."It turned out I wasn’t careful this time," Skipper told Miller.Skipper immediately informed Disney CEO Bob Iger of the threat."When I discussed it with Bob, he and I agreed that I had placed the company in an untenable position and as a result, I should resign," Skipper told Miller.On Dec. 18, Skipper shocked ESPN employees by announcing his resignation, citing substance abuse issues. FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — A Northern California man posed as a woman on dating apps to lure men to a meeting place and then rob and carjack them, prosecutors said.Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office charged Hakeem Doeparker, 20, this week with multiple felonies, including second-degree robbery and criminal threats, attempted extortion and carjacking, The Fresno Bee reported Wednesday.Doeparker allegedly created female profiles on apps such as Skout and MeetMe! to connect with his victims. Prosecutors said he scheduled dates with the victims in Antioch, which is about 45 miles (72 km) northwest of San Francisco.He approached victims from behind, pointed a gun at them and threatened to shoot or kill them if they did not give him their money or car keys.The charges stem from incidents that occurred in June with four men, who all escaped unharmed. Doeparker successfully took money and two cars, which police later recovered.Doeparker, who is in custody, pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday.Prosecutors believe there may be several additional victims. Ford is recalling about 350,000 trucks for a problem that could cause them to roll even after the driver shifts into park.The automaker says the issue affects 2018 Ford F-150 and Ford Expedition vehicles with 10-speed automatic transmissions, as well as Ford F-650 and F-750 vehicles with 6-speed automatic transmissions.Ford says a piece of equipment on the affected vehicles can become dislodged over time, which means the car won't be in the gear that it looks like it's in, such as park.This means that if the driver shifts the car into park, the car might not actually be in park — and there would not be a warning message to indicate that. If he or she doesn't use a parking brake, Ford says the vehicle could roll.Ford says it's aware of one reported accident and injury.The company is also recalling more than 100 other vehicles for a missing transmission roll pin. If the pin is missing, the company says that the transmission on those vehicles might eventually lose the ability to park, even if the driver shifts the car into that gear.Ford says that problem affects around 160 of the 2017 and 2018 Ford F-150s, 2018 Ford Expeditions, 2018 Lincoln Navigators and 2018 Ford Mustangs with 10R80 transmissions.  1231

Florida State University notified students Wednesday afternoon that Spring Break 2021 is canceled.FSU said the move is in an effort to keep students and staff safe and healthy.Under the new plan, the Spring semester will begin on January 6, 2021, the first three days of which will be taught remotely.As a result of canceling Spring Break the Spring semester will now end on April 23, 2021, a week earlier than planned.The letter reads as follows:"As our highest priority remains the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff, Florida State University has adopted a new calendar for the Spring 2021 semester.The semester will still begin Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, however, the first three days of classes will be taught remotely. The university has canceled Spring Break in 2021. Former FBI Director James Comey wrote in his unreleased book that President Donald Trump asked him to look into one of the most infamous allegations in a dossier of claims about Trump and Russia, the New York Post reported Thursday.The Post said it obtained a copy of the book, and that in the book, Comey wrote that Trump wanted him to prove the allegation was false in part to prove its falsehood to his wife, first lady Melania Trump."He brought up what he called the 'golden showers thing,'" the Post quotes Comey as writing.The dossier was commissioned as opposition research by political opponents of then-candidate Trump and compiled by a former British intelligence agent.Portions of the dossier remain unconfirmed.The book reportedly continues, "It bothered him if there was 'even a one percent chance' his wife, Melania, thought it was true. ... He just rolled on, unprompted, explaining why it couldn't possibly be true, ending by saying he was thinking of asking me to investigate the allegation to prove it was a lie.
