A man shot several times by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin is still fighting for his life while undergoing surgical procedures. Bullets severed Jacob Blake Jr.’s spinal cord and shattered at least one vertebrae and he is paralyzed from the waist down. According to his attorney Benjamin Crump “it will take a miracle” for Blake to walk again.Blake was shot at least seven times by Kenosha, Wisconsin police just after 5 p.m. Sunday. Officers were responding to the area for a reported "domestic incident."Officers did not say what led up to the shooting, but video shot by a neighbor shows Blake walking to an SUV and attempting to enter it moments before an officer grabs him by the shirt and shoots him.Blake’s three young boys were in the car at the time. His family says Blake’s eight-year-old son was celebrating his birthday over the weekend. “Think of that son, and what he will be thinking about every time he celebrates his birthday,” Crump said.“They shot my son, seven times, seven times. Like he didn’t matter. He matters. He’s a human being, and he matters,” said Blake’s father, Jacob Blake Sr., becoming emotional Tuesday afternoon.Blake is conscious and was able to talk to his mother when she visited him in the hospital.“I don’t think he knows about all this, he doesn’t know what happened. He opened his eyes and started to cry. He started to apologize,” I asked him why, and he didn’t know what happened.As she started to pray, Blake asked the officer in the room if he was a man of faith, “he said yes, in short, and he (Blake) asked him to pray with us,” Jackson recalled from visiting her son in the hospital.Blake has holes in his stomach from the bullets, and has damage to other internal organs and his arm. His family and attorneys say he has a “long road to recovery” and more surgeries ahead. The family said they are not sure if Blake’s paralysis is permanent.“I am asking everyone, take a moment and examine your heart. Citizens, police officers, firemen, clergy, politicians. Do Jacob justice on this level, and examine your hearts. We need healing,” Blake’s mother, Julia Jackson said.“God did not make one type of tree,” she said, “how dare you ask him to make one type of human that looks just like you. I’m not talking to just caucasian people, I’m talking to everyone. A Florida business owner can continue to fly the flags of the branches of the military after an employee's Facebook live video prompted an ordinance review by city officials.On Monday afternoon, the store manager for Jaguar Power Sports — a motorcycle dealership in Jacksonville — went live on the dealership's Facebook page and claimed a city official with the Regulatory and Compliance Department had cited the business for flying flags of the various branches of the military. The employee claimed that the business was cited for each flag on top of the building."These flags that are flying overhead should not be a problem," said the employee, identifying himself only as Shaun. "... There’s one thing I’m not going to tolerate and that is disrespect for our military in a military town. We should not get cited or ticketed for flying flags representing our country.”The employee also claims the city official who cited the dealership also told a customer in the store at the time — a military veteran — that the customer had done "nothing for our country."Jaguar Power Sports' video has since been shared nearly 250,000 times and received more than 5 million views as of 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday.Regulatory and Compliance Department Chief of Staff Brian Hughes told the Jacksonville Times Union said that Jaguar Power Sports had been issued a warning and had not been fined. On the morning of the somber anniversary, the university's maintenance crew removed the murals with a power washer.Now CSU and the head of its maintenance department are getting blasted on social media. A federal judge has sentenced a Louisiana man to 25 years in prison for setting fires at three churches in the state in 2019.Earlier this year, Holden Matthews admitted that, between March 26 and April 4, 2019, he intentionally set fire to three churches in with predominantly Black congregations near Opelousas, Louisiana — Greater Union, Mt. Pleasant and St. Mary Baptist Churches — in an effort to raise his profile as a "Black Metal" musician by copying similar crimes committed in Norway in the 1990s.On Tuesday, Matthews was sentenced to 15 years in prison for intentional damage to religious property. He was then sentenced to 10 years in prison for a charge of using fire to commit a felony. Matthews did get 18 months credit for time already has served.The judge also asked the Bureau of Prisons to ensure he is placed in a facility near his family and that he receives substance abuse counseling and mental health treatment.Matthews was also ordered to pay restitution of 0,246 to St. Mary, 0,213.30 to Greater Union, and .1 million to Mt. Pleasant."These churches trace their origins to the post-Civil War Reconstruction period and, for generations, were a place for predominantly African American Christians to gather, pray, worship, and celebrate their faith," Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband said in a statement.
