(KGTV) - A woman who was struck by a vehicle in Chula Vista Thursday night died of her injuries in the hospital, according to Chula Vista Police.Dispatchers received several 911 calls about the crash at Fourth Ave and C Street at 9:15 p.m. The location is near a CVS pharmacy and Jack in the Box.Officers said they found the 57-year-old victim in the intersection with serious injuries. (KGTV) -- Police are investigating two violent incidents that occurred at Chula Vista’s Otay Ranch Town Center in recent weeks.The Chula Vista Police Department is asking for the public’s help as they try to find the people suspected in a stabbing incident on Sept. 25 and an assault on Oct. 2 that happened at the mall on 2015 Birch Rd.In the Sept. 25 incident, at around 6 p.m., two people were approached by a group of four people, and then “three of the subjects began assaulting one of the victims,” police said.Police said one victim was stabbed in the back of the leg and had their backpack stolen. The other victim was not hurt, but one of the assailants took their cell phone.According to police, the incident was captured on video and shared on social media. The suspects in this case were described by police as Black male juveniles.In the Oct. 2 incident, a person was with friends at the mall when he was approached by about eight juveniles. Police said, “One of the suspects then punched the victim and a second suspect stole the victim’s Boston Red Sox baseball hat. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A suspect police say led them on a chase in a car that was reported stolen has been arrested.Chula Vista Police say they received a report of a stolen Honda Civic Tuesday. After spotting the car around 3:02 p.m. Wednesday near I-5 and E Street, police tried to pull the driver over, but he led them on a chase through city streets, running several red lights in the process. The suspect then drove onto State Route 54. After the suspect began to drive east in the westbound lanes, police called off the chase.Shortly after police called off the chase, the suspect got out of the car and ran into the Villa Bonita apartment complex. The suspect was arrested after residents at the complex were able to point out which unit the the man went into.  808

(KGTV) - A new music school is open in the South Bay, teaching kids to play instruments with a less-classical approach."We're not the little old lady down the street with a metronome," says owner Mark Sheffield.He opened the School of Rock at Otay Ranch Town Center after his wife had to drive through traffic to take their son to classes in Liberty Station."Later on that evening, I asked how did it go, did you have fun? Yes, it was a blast. He loved it. We want to do that again. But we're not. But we're not ever doing that again. It was a 45-minute drive there and an hour and a half drive back," Sheffield explains.He says opening a South Bay location gives kids in that part of the county an option to learn music in a fun, modern way."The students learn music by playing it in an environment that fosters a true enjoyment for what they're doing," he says. "They're going to want to come anyway, and hang out with friends, and they're going to end up learning."School of Rock offers lessons for kids starting at age 3, no matter the skill level. And with malware attacks, unencrypted data and third-party breaches, there will likely be more this holiday shopping season.“Cyber criminals are very well aware of the current situation and they are going to do everything they can to take advantage of it,” he said.According to the FBI, cyber crime has increased by 400% this year. But there are things consumers can do to protect themselves.Consider identity protection services. These companies can monitor many data sources, including credit files, social media and the dark web.Enable two-factor authentication for every online account you have that offers it, and call the three major credit services to freeze your credit.“I think that your credit should be regularly frozen except when you go about getting a new home mortgage or getting a car loan,” said Daswani. “You can always unfreeze it just before you do any of those activities.”Another vulnerability that Daswani says is important to pay attention to is your home router.“If you bought your home router and you just hooked it up and you didn't say change the password on it, then attackers can take advantage of those commonly used default passwords and hack into your home router,” he said. “And once they've done that, they can control anything and everything.”With increased remote working, learning and online shopping experts say a cyber pandemic could be the next catastrophic global event.
