HOUSTON (AP) — An appeals court has refused to allow the Trump administration to continue detaining immigrant children in hotel rooms before expelling them under rules adopted during the coronavirus pandemic. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Sunday upheld a lower court’s order that would have required the U.S. to stop using hotels. Border agencies since March have held more than 600 children in hotel rooms before expelling them from the country without a chance to request asylum or other immigration protections. 533

In a move that reminded some people of road trips with their parents, a Delta flight turned around and went back to the gate because passengers were not complying with crew instructions. In a statement from Delta Airlines, Flight 1227 from Detroit to Atlanta on July 23 “returned to the gate following two customers who were non-compliant” with the airline's mask policy. The plane had pulled away from the gate and was still on the ground when it turned around. Delta says crew members asked the two passengers to wear a mask, and they did not.At the gate, the two passengers who did not wear a face covering were removed from the flight. The plane then took off for Atlanta as originally planned. 704

If you think you may have been exposed to COVID-19, contact your health care provider immediately. If you have health-related questions or concerns, contact your healthcare provider. For general questions about COVID-19 or information about community resources, call 2-1-1.SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A lot of fear stemming from the Coronavirus comes from the fact that it is so new and that it is unraveling in real-time. Many people remain confused about the exact symptoms, as many healthcare professionals tell them to look for cold or flu-like symptoms. But what exactly does that mean? PODCAST: Supervisor Nathan Fletcher talks about coronavirus and how newly approved stimulus bill will impact San Diego County10News sat down with Dr. Abisola Olulade from Sharp Rees Stealy Downtown, who broke it down. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], these are the common symptoms for the cold, flu, and Coronavirus. The Cold:SneezingCoughStuffy NoseSore ThroatThe Flu:FeverAchesChillsFatigueSneezingCoughHeadacheThe Coronavirus:FeverCoughShortness of BreathThere are many overlaps. But Dr. Olulade said the most significant difference is the respiratory aspect of shortness of breath. When a patient experiences that, that is a cause for serious Coronavirus concern. "I would say that the main thing that is different about the Coronavirus is that, more so than the others, it causes shortness of breath. It’s rare for the others to cause shortness of breath," Dr. Olulade said. When should you go to the doctor? Dr. Olulade said, do not panic and run out the door immediately. First, make sure you have a fever, cough, and especially shortness of breath. Then, call your doctor to let them know of your specific symptoms so that the hospital or doctor's office can prepare for your potential arrival. For example, you may need a special type of room to be set up. You may not.Dr. Olulade said if you are in general good health, with no pre-existing conditions, and have no recent travel history, you may be asked to stay home and self-quarantine for the time being. Testing for you may not be prioritized. However, if you are presenting Coronavirus symptoms, have pre-existing conditions that make your immune system compromised, or have recent travel history, you may be asked to come in immediately to get tested. It all depends on that phonecall. Listen to their advice and proceed. 2413

In 2020, election sites are looking a little different: an art museum, a pro-basketball arena, new mobile voting vehicles and even a bar that combines football with bowling. These are some of the unique polling locations in Atlanta, Georgia, as local government leaders are partnering with those venues to make it easier for people to cast their ballots.“This is so something you would not expect,” said Jon Dilley, general manager of Fowling Warehouse a 25,000 square foot bar that’s being transformed into a unique polling location.Customer Elliot Anderson is excited during this election season to grab a beer and fill out a ballot at Fowling Warehouse.“Just opening up different places to vote,” he said. “That’s always going to be good.”Across Atlanta, new mobile voting vehicles are opening up new opportunities for people living in areas described as “voting deserts.”“This is more of an African American community,” said voter Davonne Reaves of her neighborhood on Atlanta’s east side. “The lines are a lot longer and sometimes that can actually discourage people to vote.”Reaves says this voting process took less than 30 minutes and that these new mobile polling buses help encourage her community to get more involved with politics.“I think with this bus, this is actually going to create a movement,” she said. “We’ll probably see more of these types of buses and more creative locations for people to get out and vote.”Creative ways to make sure people’s votes are collected in a timely manner.“When it comes down to it, even the most engaged voters may be not be able to spend two or three hours in line,” said Robert Preuhs, Ph.D., chair of the political science department at MSU Denver.Preuhs says more options give more voters a greater chance at getting involved in the political process.“Having more polling places, whether they’re unique or not, close to them really is going to matter in terms of the ability for people to make their voice heard,” he said.More voices heard and more votes counted for what could turn out to be the most unique election in U.S. history. 2097

House Democrats have failed to override President Donald Trump’s veto of a measure that would have reversed the Education Department’s tough policy on loan forgiveness for students misled by for-profit colleges. The House voted 238-173 on Friday in support of the override measure, coming up short of the two-thirds majority needed to send it to the Senate. It's a victory for Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, whose policy on student loan disputes was in jeopardy after Congress voted to reverse it in March. It now remains in place and will take effect July 1.The resolution would have repealed the final rules related to discharges of loans for borrower defense to loan repayment and other circumstances and prohibit reissuing similar rules in the future, according to the Congressional Budget Office. 812
