LAS VEGAS – Bruce Williamson, the former lead singer of The Temptations, has died from the coronavirus.The 49-year-old died Sunday evening at Mountain View Hospital in Las Vegas, according to his business manager.Williamson was with The Temptations for nearly 10 years.The Temptations sold tens of millions of albums with hits like "My Girl" and "Get Ready."Williamson left the group in 2015 to focus on soul and gospel music. (KGTV) -- The woman authorities say was hit and killed by a suspected DUI driver Monday evening has been identified as 41-year-old Susana Gotell. Throughout the day Tuesday, flowers brought to the area by residents adorned the place where Gotell was killed. Meanwhile, the Santee man who officers say was driving under the influence could face first-degree murder charges.CHP says the driver, Michael Woodfill, 46, hit a fence on North Woodside Avenue around 6:30 p.m. When Woodfill tried to get back onto the road, he overcorrected, crossing both lanes and hitting the jogger.RELATED: Woman hit, killed by suspected DUI driver in LakesideOfficers returned to the scene Tuesday to reconstruct the scene. Woodfill had a DUI back in 2016 after officers say he was found with an excessive blood alcohol level. One month later, his license was reinstated with restrictions. Earlier this year, Woodfill’s license was also suspended after officials say he had no insurance, but was later reinstated five days later.When the crash happened Monday, Woodfill was driving on a restricted license. Woodfill is currently being held without bail after being arrested for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. 1256

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. -- Part of the popular RiverWatch restaurant on the Ohio River has vanished, and nobody seems quite sure where it went.The floating restaurant had a tiki bar attached on a separate barge. Authorities don't know if it sank or floated away. A boat normally docked at the restaurant was located downriver, but the tiki bar remained missing Sunday.The Ohio River did reach flood stage over the weekend."They can go back and reel back time and maybe figure out if anything hit, anything happened to force this to happen, because this tiki bar's been intact, I'm told, for 12 years," Lawrenceburg Mayor Kelly Mollaun said.The RiverWatch is a seasonal business, usually operating between April and October. Mike Lee, R-Utah, appeared at Judge Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation hearing in-person on Monday and delivered his opening remarks without a mask.On Oct. 2, Lee announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19. He was one of about a dozen high-ranking government officials — including President Donald Trump — who attended Barrett's Sept. 26 nomination ceremony at the White House and later contracted the virus.Lee said he had received a letter from Congress's attending physician, Dr. Brian Monahan, clearing him to return to his in-person duties — though the letter did not note that Lee had tested negative for the virus."Based upon current CDC guidelines, you have met criteria to end COVID-19 isolation for those with mild to moderate disease," Monahan's letter read. "Specifically, it has been greater than 10 days since symptom onset, you have had no fever in absence of fever reducing medication for at least 24 hours, and your other symptoms have improved. Latinos are more likely to have to stay in the hospital and are also more likely to die from coronavirus, according to experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).A number of factors contribute to a higher risk, including language barriers and not receiving important information in their native language.That's why communities across the country are focusing on finding bilingual contact tracers.Community Care of North Carolina has a team of them.“We do try to find individuals that match the community, because that's what builds the trust, and people are more willing to talk to people that are like them, and their community,” said Christina Page with Community Care of North Carolina. “So, we try really hard to try to find bilingual individuals who can go out into the community.”Not only are people in the Latino community more willing to speak to a contact tracer, it's also easier to speak about their own health.“It is hard for the community to communicate through interpreters and that is a barrier for trust. It is easy for somebody, if you are talking in your language, to connect and express how you are feeling and what are the problems that you have,” said Wendy Pascual with Community Care North Carolina.Contact tracers aren't just finding people who have been exposed to coronavirus. They're often giving people information they had not received before and also connecting families with resources that help them get food and pay for utilities.There's also need for contact tracers who speak other languages, but the biggest need is for people who speak Spanish. 1609
