SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — It's a new season with new threads for the San Diego Padres.The Padres unveiled new home and away sets of uniforms sporting the team's classic brown colors during a fashion show-style event at Petco Park Saturday.Third baseman Manny Machado, first baseman Eric Hosmer, and shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. were on hand to model the new look the Friars take into 2020. Two styles of the new uniforms featured a return to pinstripes, one on a white base reading "Padres" and the other on dark gray reading "San Diego." SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Military families say the squalid living conditions detailed in a new report by the Military Family Advisory Network released Wednesday don't fully portray their struggle.In Murphy Canyon, the issues range from mice, to dry rot to rust. Shelby Stevens' husband is in the Navy, and they've been stationed in San Diego for three years. On the porch she pointed out what looked like half painted pergolas and said they were full of dry rot. Inside there is no microwave, and the kitchen was much the same as it was originally in the 1990's. "We've got ant problems, roaches, mice," Stevens showed 10News her shed in the back yard. Inside there's half a dozen mice traps, with little black dots covering the floor. Stevens says those are mice droppings.On her phone, an image of a dead mouse, she said her dog killed. These issues echoed throughout the military community.A woman who didn't wish to be identified, for fear of retaliation, said her closet door had loose rusted screws she had to keep out of her toddlers' reach. She said the repair work on a clogged toilet was shoddy, saying the men left mold, and poop around the base of the toilet.The new report by the Military Family Advisory Network breaks down the problems renters face by base. For San Diego military families, the top two issues are maintenance and mold."We absolutely know that the nearly 17,000 who responded to our questionnaire, this is their reality," Shannon Razsadin, Executive Director of MFAN, said.The survey went out last January and ran for a week. Razsadin hopes the report gives military families a tool to create change.The military moms who spoke with 10News say it's not a complete picture of what they're dealing with. Stevens said 17,000 people across the country is a very small part of the military community as a whole. She said in the last several months their service has declined."We've had no shows from maintenance men, we've had no shows from contractors who are scheduled to come out to my house, no show, no call. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Jewish leaders celebrated the second night of Hanukkah Monday, lighting the second candle of a massive Menorah outside City Hall.As the second night of the Jewish Festival of Lights got underway, Rabbi Zalman Carlebach said it was important for leaders to show their support and celebrate in light of recent anti-Semetic incidents around the U.S. "In light of the current events that are happening around the country, this world could use some more light. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Mayor Kevin Faulconer detailed his plan to bolster San Diego's infrastructure in a proposed budget Tuesday.The plan calls for a total of about 3 million in investments into the city's streets, parks, and water system — among other improvements. The investment in infrastructure is the largest in San Diego's history, according to the mayor's office.The investments are part of the mayor's proposed .8 billion budget, which City Council leaders are set to adopt at a June 11 meeting.RELATED: San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer unveils 2019 budget"After decades of neglect, we have a lot more to do, which is why I’m focused on fixing more streets, building more parks and making more neighborhood upgrades than ever before," Faulconer said in a release. "We also need to invest in aging buildings like those in Balboa Park so they stand the test of time and that’s exactly what this budget will do."Here's a look at some of the financial commitments the mayor's plan proposes:Pure Water: Among the commitments is a 1 million investment into Pure Water San Diego to create an independent, drought-proof local water supply for San Diego. The funds will also see new roofing installed for Balboa Park's Mingei International Museum and Air & Space Museum.Transportation: The plan puts 8 million toward transportation projects which consist of road paving, traffic signals, sidewalk improvements, and bridges. This includes funding to fix about 390 miles of streets.Parks & Rec: Mission Bay Park, Chollas Lake, Hickman Field Athletic Area, and Skyline Hills Community Park will see .5 million in park upgrades, including new lighting, trail realignments, and ADA improvements.Water system: Faulconer's proposal also includes .6 million for stormwater upgrades to channels, pumps, storm drain pipes, and watersheds.Faulconer's entire proposed budget can be viewed on the city's website. 2230
