SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - Several white nationalist posters were discovered at California State University San Marcos, campus officials said Tuesday. The posters, which were found at various locations Monday, advertised a group that is identified by multiple civil rights organizations as a hate group, according to CSUSM.According to the university, the group responsible for putting up the posters, Identity Evropa, is the same group that put up posters at SDSU in February. The university believes the timing of the posters is connected to the Pittsburgh shooting.University Police removed the posters, which violated the college’s posting policy, officials said. The college is investigating the matter.“While we grieve for the victims and offer our support to those impacted – the survivors, their friends, family members and loved ones – I want to be clear: White supremacy and anti-Semitism, or any other doctrines that expose hate and elevate one group above another, have no place at Cal State San Marcos,” said CSUSM President Karen Haynes in a news release.“We strongly condemn language and actions that promote racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, violence, discrimination and other forms of hate. Furthermore, we will remain committed to our values and guiding principles as a University, which compel us to respect and model the diversity of our region within a context of social justice and educational equity.”Dr. Haynes said staff members at Student Health and Counseling Services were available, in addition to the Office of University Ombuds and the Cougar Care Network and SOAR.CSUSM encouraged anyone who witnessed incidents of bias or hate on campus to report it to University Police at 760-750-4567 or the Office of Inclusive Excellence at 760-750-4039.“We are in this together, and I know that our collective power can create change, not only here at CSUSM but across our region, state, nation and world. Together, let’s stand up for diversity, inclusion and respect and stand against all forms of hate. Together, we are CSUSM,” said President Haynes. 2082

SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) - Border Patrol officials in San Diego say they are preparing for the possibility of interactions with 7,000 immigrants seeking asylum at the U.S-Mexico border in San Ysidro.Mexico has already offered asylum to the migrant caravan, officials say. If the group reaches Tijuana, they will be denied entry into the United States.1,300 U.S. military troops are at San Ysidro to support the border mission, but not in a law enforcement role, according to military officials. The Army, Marines, and military police will fill in gaps along the border and erect barriers, creating an infrastructure to make it harder to cross illegally.Border protection officials also told 10News there is no place to put the migrants. During a tour of the San Ysidro Port of Entry Friday, journalists were allowed to tour the holding area but forbidden to take photographs. ICE detention facilities are already at capacity, officials say, and any more additions would push the problem to the breaking point.Anyone who enters the U.S. illegally will be arrested, Border Patrol officials say."We are not going to allow large groups of aliens to come to this county and to enter this country unaddressed,” said Rodney Scott, U.S. Customs and Border Protection.Scott added that if the caravan does visit the U.S., nothing is off the table in terms of stopping them, including a full border shutdown. The military says it views its mission at the border as temporary, and says it plans to be gone by December 15. 1516

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) — For more than 20 years, Casey Rummerfield has been the toast of Halloween in his San Marcos neighborhood.Hours spent throughout the year on handmade electronic displays, decorations, and more turn his Shadow Hills Drive home into a memorable tradition for his neighbors, family, and friends."It's more hours than it is money. The cannon prop is home built," Rummerfield says, pointing to various props, barrels, and displays he has built by hand. "I would say about a thousand [hours] a year is what we put into it."RELATED: Clairemont electrician lights up neighborhood with Halloween displayRummerfield's love for Halloween began as a child, though his talent for delivering some spooky fun started when he moved in on Halloween Day in 1993.Since moving in, what started as a need to actually dress up the house for Halloween has blossomed into providing an annual celebration for the neighborhood.Rummerfield's family and friends have been integral in setting up and keeping the tradition alive. And while his children have grown up and moved out, he says they've taken a lot with them.RELATED: Map: San Diego neighborhoods you'll want to check out on Halloween"My youngest has vowed that when it's my time to retire, she's going to take over," Rummerfield says with a smile. "They've texted me more this month than they have all offseason."Rummerfield says one child is currently at Facebook while the other is studying costume and set design and as a special effects make-up artist — perhaps predictably."[She] got an A on her horror class. Brought me to tears," Rummerfield said gleaming. That enthusiasm for Halloween has carried over to the neighborhood year-after-year, seen in Rummerfield's efforts.RELATED: Halloween family fun, haunted houses, and parties in San Diego"You have to see it to believe it. SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - A Caltrans project to expand an SR-78 ramp in North San Diego County has some residents concerned about their safety.Crews have been working on the Woodland Parkway on-ramp to improve the flow of traffic to the freeway. Eventually, there will be an additional lane at the Woodland and Barham on-ramps.Residents told 10News the construction set-up is too dangerous for drivers.“I'm saying a prayer before I get on the ramp cause you really need it,” said Jacqueline Duron. She also said the ramp set-up doesn’t give drivers enough time to speed up and merge onto the freeway safely.“A lot of the times all the lanes are packed - so there's nowhere for anybody to go - and drivers going up the ramp getting smashed on the cement wall,” said Duron.Neighbors also posted concerns on the NextDoor app, calling the situation a ‘death trap’.Crash statistics for the Woodland Parkway ramp to westbound SR-78 show a slight uptick from last year, with seven crashes to the previous year’s five.Even though the number of accidents were slightly higher this year compared to 2017, the CHP says the numbers do not support the existence of an issue.10News talked with Caltrans about neigbors' concerns. Public information officer Ed Joyce said the roadwork meets temporary construction code standards, allowing enough time and room for drivers to merge.“They want to pay attention when they get near construction zones, avoid all distractions be work zone alert and be courteous,” Joyce said about drivers.Caltrans construction information is publicly available online. 1595
