SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - It's been 13 years since Filirican Torres died after being hit by a car on the 94 Freeway, and her family says every passing holiday and anniversary brings the pain back to the forefront."It feels like someone is stabbing you in the heart over and over again," says sister Edy Torres.Friday is the anniversary of the death, which is still unsolved. Now the Torres family is asking anyone with information to come forward and help them get closure."Maybe they heard something in the last 13 years," says Torres. "Maybe they heard her name or something came up. Help us out."The family says Torres was thrown from a car on the freeway on January 10, 2007, and then hit by several other cars on the road. It happened on the Eastbound lanes of the 94 in between Euclid Avenue and Kelton. At the time, San Diego Police called the death "suspicious." In 2009, Crime Stoppers released a photo of a white Geo Metro as a suspect vehicle, but they never made any arrests."She was a loving person," Torres says of her sister. "When you met her she would put a smile on your face. She had this aura where you would just gravitate to her."As they have for years, the family is putting up posters around the area where the crash took place."It's been 13 years," says Edy. The Del Cerro and Torrey Highlands are the best San Diego neighborhoods for renters, according to HotPads.Analysts evaluated rental size and price per square foot. San Diego’s median rental size is 1,154 feet, and renters can expect to spend .32 per square foot of space.The median rental size in Torrey Highlands is 2,033 square feet, at .14 per square foot, HotPads reported. Del Cerro residents pay .77 per square foot, with a median rental size of 1,710 square feet. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - It was an emotional day in a Southern California courtroom for the family of a murdered Army veteran.Nearly 20 people who were close to Julia Jacobson read victim-impact statements during the sentencing hearing for her killer, ex-husband Dalen Ware.Julia’s brother, Tony Jacobson, spoke exclusively with 10News reporter Jennifer Kastner. “It was kind of both a celebration to her as well as an understanding that this isn't just some random person. It really is someone that truly did touch her community, served her country and people really did love her very much. Unfortunately, [Ware] took her away from us all,” says Tony Jacobson of his own impact statement that he read in the courtroom.RELATED: Ex-husband of former Army veteran pleads guiltyWare will serve 15 years to life in prison, after pleading guilty to her murder. It was more than a year ago that the retired Army captain and her dog disappeared over Labor Day weekend.Her SUV was discovered abandoned near her home in University Heights. Ware was later arrested in Phoenix where he was living, and charged with her murder.Her remains were discovered in a shallow grave, in Riverside County. When she would laugh, she would snort a little bit which was makes it sound so embarrassing for her but it was one of her things that made her so personable,” adds Tony. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- It’s now been a week since the first Americans began their quarantines at MCAS Miramar after evacuating from the epicenter of the coronavirus, and all Charles Wasserburger wants is one thing: a pizza.“I’m just eating the food they have here and suffering through all the pizza and burger commercials they have on TV,” he said.To be clear, the Nebraska native says he’s not complaining about conditions on the base where he has been on a mandatory 14-day quarantine since Feb. 5. The government has provided all 232 evacuees at Miramar with televisions and cell phones to call or video chat with loved ones, free of charge. Wasserburger works for a microbiology company. He was in Wuhan, China on business when the outbreak began. He hasn’t shown signs of the virus, but with two cases now confirmed among evacuees at Miramar, his wife in Omaha is a little worried on his behalf.“Even when you’re trying to keep a positive attitude, which he has done, there’s still going to be those days when you’re second guessing, “Could I be that person that comes down with that horrible thing next?” Fauniel Wasserburger said.The evacuees are allowed to mingle with each other in quarantine, although they’re supposed to stay six feet apart.
